I know Valentine's Day is over, but do we really need a designated day to express what we feel? Write a letter, poem, whatever you want to a future lover or your current partner, whoever you want in a romantic setting. Free for all. I suggest a message of positivity/gratitude, but you can take it wherever the prompt takes you :) Tag me in a comment (not the work cause I won't see it) if you want me to read and comment @tornesornerob

Red of dawn

I'll build a bed of roses for you

The walls made of shining paper

The room has got a golden floor

And the rainbow ends right here

All windows are showing the south

A view on the glimmering sea

Every day I'm evening the waves

Diving behind drowned dreams

Changing desperation for mother-of-pearl

I will laugh and cry about you

I've always got a winning trump

I will promise you love

When the water goes to your neck

In shattered times I will unfold a net

Standing up in the storm until the wind turns

All wishes are directly fulfilled

Or even before, if you wish

I'm there for you day and night

I don't say anything and I'm holding still

The grey everyday I will throw into the canalisation

I will suffocate doubts in their birth

Star coins should rain down for you

And you can be more vain than the sunshine

I'll let the air flicker for you

Build dream castles into the red of dawn

Bad ghosts are mixed up

I will promise you love

When the water goes to your neck

In shattered times I will unfold a net

Standing up in the storm until the wind turns

Only good humour is allowed

Bad humour is immediately dishonoured

Heartache is fed to the peace doves

Problems are brushed under the flying carpet

I'll lie the blue of the sky for you

I'll talk any tragedy nice for you

I'll chase away all your worries

Sadness is brought to justice

Watch out that signs are showing you good

In shattered times I will unfold a net

Standing up in the storm until the wind turns

Letter In The Window Of My Mind

Will these words ever touch your mind, hold your heart gently?

Will you think me too pushy? Too quiet? Too shy? Perhaps I am.

When I see you, even if but a glimpse, I feel struck as if by a force of nature to just take you up in my arms and cradle you next to me. To hear and feel your breath across my cheek. To listen and rtemember the sound of your laughter. And if need be, to be there to wipe away your tears.

I don't say all this because I am lonely and starved for attention for I have many friends. I just don't have that one "special friend" I want to grow old with.

It's more than just sharing ideas and values; more even than making love no matter how passionate we may become. It's more about the knowing, learning, and placing our faith and trust in each other, and I so want to know everything about you.

I sometimes think, were I a rich man, you would have but only to ask, but I am poor, and you walk through me, and will never know the depth of emotion I feel. I guess in an ungodly way, I need to have you in my life.

Neither of us are true perfection and I would certainly never put you on a pedastal, but rather have us face to face on equal footing, supporting each other no matter the storm in front of us.

If by chance you find this letter, at least tell me true if you would be the half I am not without you.

to the one i’ll love

it won’t be easy

with the touch of a hand

i’m not the person i was

moments ago i crumble

at words spoken

in the foreign tongue

boldly called love

but for you

i’ll find my spine

work my lips to show

my eyes never lie

there’s more to me

than fear and i believe

a racing heart

Thank You, Love

(Acrostic)

Tomorrow's never promised

Hence, I pen without delay

A letter, thanking you

Near my heart, in love you came

Kindred spirits, joined

Your body, one with mine

Offering your substance

Until death, for all our time

Lest we linger, briefly

Our journey, here, together

Verily, my gratitude

Eternally, yours forever

I know I Know I KNOW

I am stiff and cold and can't hold your gaze

I am ashamed

I am proud

You shouldn't

But you do

My mind is oh so appealing

My poetry

My art

But my heart is malnourished

And you can't feed it

You're not the one

But i'll let you love me anyway

Invited

And when I leave myself behind

You wait for me

An anchor in a stormy sea

When I forget to take a chance

You hand one over

Adding fuel to the motor

When I can’t remember who I am

You lead me to a mirror

Wiping away tears to make it clearer

I fear her

That imposter

I didn’t add her to the roster

But when I’m with you

I always feel invited

With splendid lenses I’m not so farsighted

And for that

I am forever grateful

Your love is healing, never painful

I miss you.

You showed me how to laugh

You showed me how to love

You showed me all there is

Now I’m letting go

You showed me how to walk

You showed me how to run

You showed me how to leap

It’s hard to let go

Everything you taught me

Everything you are

Everything you did

Now I'm gonna live for you

Live how you want me to

Never hold back

Never fall short

Never stop

remarkable

I never found anything about his eyes truly remarkable.

They were simple, they were nice,

No extraordinary mixture of otherworldly colors.

But somehow,

Someway,

He saw the truth better than anyone else.

The stars, brighter.

The sky, broader.

The world, larger.

And when he looked at me,

I knew he was looking into my very soul

And smiling because of what he saw.

What he saw inside of me.

I never found anything about his eyes truly remarkable.

But through them, he found me remarkable.

And that’s enough.
