The dressing stood beyond the pan

The turkey rose to gobble

A biscuit rolled out of a can

A corncob learned to wobble 

The green beans danced unto the lawn

The pumpkin pie enlisted 

And I felt I was just a pawn

As all our food resisted ...

Everyone around the table

Almost ready to eat

The food is hot and ready when

A "Squawk!" comes from the meat

The green beans choke the carrots

The gravy drowns the swede

Mashed potatoes mashing parsnips

And causing a food stampede

I took a peak during prayer and what did I see?

Turkey dancing round with yams and spuds

Green beans prancing with the back door key

Biscuits led the way to escape through gravy floods

Fast out the door and on the run 

All before the blessing had been done

The innocuous mashed potatoes was their leader,

Turkey snatched the electric carver with one wing,

Gravy bubbled himself up into a scalding explosion,

Cranberry sauce wobbled across the table trying to help,

Pumpkin pie jimmied the door,

They backed out of the house,

Threatening their overlords,

Until freedom was found.
