Boundless.

"Why do you stay here?" the Moon asked the Sun. The Sun almost laughed hearing the question.

"Why? The people down below are the people that I give light. They look up to me, day and night, to keep them alive, away from fright." The Sun could see the Moon's dissatisfaction in the answer. "This is my calling, the one that I follow. I believe this is where I am supposed to be, to help these people live happily. Hopefully, one day you'll see, you'll see the people that I love, oh so dearly.

"But again I'll ask why do you care? Just let these people do what they dare. I find that mighty unfair, come fly with me away into the air." The Moon begged the Sun.

"I'm going to stay, until the day I turn grey. Sunday till Saturday. This is my only way." The Sun replied.

"Your way is not mine. You want to stay? Fine. But now is when I draw the line, today I have grown a spine." The Moon shot back.

"But you must stay with me. These people, they love you like family," begged the Sun.

"No, I'll dance among the stars. Maybe even with Venus and Mars."

"No, you have to shine. These people, without you, will decline."

"Let them for all I care. I, unlike you, will let them do as they dare." The Moon flew off into the night. Leaving the Sun and the people it watched behind. Leaving it's entire world to see what's beyond.

"I'm finally gone, I've become a new spawn. I will go on, and on, and on, until I no longer feel as if I'm a pawn." And so the Moon did. Off he flew beyond the Solar System. Far into space. He set off to the stars, the stars he always watched. The stars he always glanced. The stars that always danced.

The stars he finally met. They all seemed so cheerful and happy. All dancing wihout a care, why wouldn't they? And so the Moon did too. For months at a time he'd dance and dance. Never stopping. Never caring. Then one day the Moon asked, "We should do something new. Should we watch someone paddle a canoe? Maybe see someone trip on a shoe? Surely, we can see those trapped in the zoo!"

"We don't do that here. I'm sorry if that was unclear," replied one of the stars. The Moon remembered that there is only one Earth, one planet with human life. The Moon soon began to dance again, for months at a time. Never stopping. Never caring. But the Moon soon began to grow tired of dancing. For what were they dancing? For what purpose?

For what meaning? The Moon began to see the people as the Sun did. The Moon began to want to help the people as the Sun did.

"I must go fellow stars. I must go mend my scars," the Moon announced.

"Back to your Earth? Why do you lower your worth?" the stars asked.

"You see, they are my glee. My responsibilty. So now I flee, I must go back, go back to my family." And so the Moon did. Flying across the air back to the Sun, and back to the Earth that it so dearly missed.

"Hello Sun, I'm sorry. But I've changed, I know you can see. Please accept me back, I beg I plea. I want to help, I want my responsibility."

The Sun replied, "I'm glad that you're back. The humans are now way off track, most of them acting like a maniac. Go, go set up shack." Delighted the Moon flew back to his place.

"I made the right choice," the Moon said. "I've nothing to do but rejoice." And so the Moon did, it started to dance. The Sun saw, and too started to prance.

Not Enough

Their love was miraculous,

but more tempestuous than most,

and the Moon would glow softly

to let the Sun shine and boast.

Some would say that the sun is grand,

and always showing off.

The moon likes to hide away,

to remain small and soft.

The sun loved the moon

that much was true,

and the moon loved the sun

but the feeling...miscontrued.

Fate did not favor their love

for their time was cut too short,

the moon was dazzled by millions of stars

and left the sun with feelings to sort.

The moon basked in the light of the sun

but the stars took its breath away,

so the moon turned to the dark of night

and abandoned the warmth of day.

The clouds took over the sky,

the world was darkened for days;

the sun then hid itself away

feeling sad, alone and betrayed.

No matter how broken and hurt,

the sun decided to shine

to illuminate its love, the moon,

and pretend that all was fine.

the sun is a star too

Oh Sun, how have you never realized how boring your name is?

I’m leaving you. It’s not you, no, it’s actually your fault. To be honest, I just can’t stand you. I am leaving you for hotter, larger stars. You, the Sun, are a star too, and I just don’t like you. You’re making it harder for those Homo Sapiens to survive. Because of that, they are hellbent on colonizing Mars. Mars, you hear me? The uninhabitable planet. It’s uninhabitable for a reason! They want to colonize space and they’ve already sent a probe to the edge of your Solar System! They are trying to find habitable planets to live on once the Green and Blue Planet is gone. I’ll maybe go join the Gas Giant, but maybe the Last of the Gas Giants or the Bull’s Eye instead, because they are trying to make one of the Gas Giant’s moons inhabitable too.

Maybe I’ll leave the Solar System, maybe even the Milky Way, I don’t know. The one thing I know is that I really don’t want to stay with you. You’re not letting those Homo Sapiens survive easily, they could get seriously hurt, and if the Others find out, They will be mad.

Once I leave, I’m never coming back,

Once yours truly,

The Moon, the Round Rock in the Sky, named by the Homo Sapiens

The Moon’s Sorrow

The moon adored the sun

And wanted to constantly be consumed

By the golden glow of her light

To bathe in her encompassing warmth for all eternity

Oh, how the moon longed for it

To be with her sun

But deep down, in a sliver of herself

The moon never wanted to acknowledge,

There was crushing doubt

Flooding insecurity

Thoughts of how she'd never be bright enough

To match the sun she so loved

Underneath it all, the moon knew

She'd never be good enough

For the blinding sun she dreamed of

So one day,

The moon turned her back on the sun,

Her heart pulsing with pain,

And joined the stars

They suited her own dull, subtle shine more

Than the sun ever could

And although the moon silently suffered everyday,

A fraction of her was overjoyed

That she could do something good

For the sun she loved so much

Moonlight

Her pale beauty trembled as a foggy wisp, a cloud, passed by. He looked at her delicate warmly with the greatest affection, but even then realized that she was getting farther from him. Slowly, as days passed, she was still with him in the sky, but they were getting farther apart. And then, she started dancing among the stars. Other stars. Not him. Her beauty trembled ever still, and even when she left him and the day to dance in the silent night, he still looked at her warmly with the same light - illuminating her, comforting her, reminding her that there was still day waiting, if she ever wanted it back.

Twinkle Light

As the sun peaks above the mountaintop,

the moon lays to rest.

A bright and sunny day won't stop

the moon and stars progress.

A lonely sun looks over the land

and makes his heated way.

And when it sets in the evening light,

the moon and the stars will play.

A brisk of light peaks over the mountain top,

similar to the sun.

A moon with a face and pillows floating

is where the stars and the moon have fun.

Let’s just say, “I’ll call you.”

Genesis

She pined for his warmth

and

Wore the dim reflection of his light

as

Badge and bondage of belonging

to

One who was always

just

Beyond her dawning

and

Outside the pull of her tides

which

Whispered love letters to shores

shaped

In the image of her wanting

until

She saw herself refracted on the waves

into

Thousands of undulating points of light

and

Was awed by the way darkness

complemented

Such prismatic brilliance

so

She took each unanswered I love you

each

Feeling of unworthiness

and

Reshaped them in her image

rejecting

The dim reflection of his unrequited light

for

The icy fires of her own song

that

She might decorate her midnight throne

with

Love letters, to herself

Why the Moon circles the Earth.

The Sun and Moon had been lovers since the beginning. The boiling hot, energic Sun had provided comfort to the ice cold and aloof Moon. They protected each other from the feelings of loneliness, isolation, and fear. Their love was the talk of the cosmos. The rest of universe was filled with envy. However, as time wore on, the energic personality of the Sun began to annoy the Moon more and more. The Moon soon developed a crush on a distant star. One that seemed just as cold and distant as the Moon. One that was younger and shone more bightly.

One day the Sun went searching for the Moon. The Sun found the Moon dancing with another star! The Sun was filled with feelings of betrayal, anger, and sadness. The Moon wanted to talk to the Sun, but the Sun didn’t want to listen. So now, the Moon circles the Earth waiting for the Sun to calm down. Hoping to one day earn the Sun’s forgiveness. So they could dance together once again. Just like they did in the beginning when it was them against the cosmos.

Not Really A “Betrayal”; Sun Deserved It

Hey, tiddle tiddle,

I solved the old riddle

and put it to this li’l tune.

The cumuli talked

while comets balked

and the stars seduced away the moon.

Oh, tattle tattle,

Solar stole its rattle;

Lunelle, he never forgot.

So when it came time,

at night sublime,

the moon followed the stars, his trail hot.

Yeh, tottle tottle,

the sun stole his bottle,

and it was the final straw.

Away the moon went,

his love all spent,

his heart then got cold, never to thaw.
