Salted kernels of sadness

leave furrows on my cheeks,

sobs in my marrow

sighing for release.

Wintery season -

a sigh of laments,

remembering gentle touch

in recurring flashbacks.

Cascading waves

slamming on my mind,

tears on dust

leaving solemn footprints.

Waning candles burning,

dripping wax -

the loss of you.

I remember your walk

of smiles and adoration,

magical rhythms stirring

memories of joy.

Smoldering fires

linger in my heart,

warmth of whispers

love unforgotten.

Far away sunsets

bathe my skin

with liquid gold.

I tuck your emerald eyes

into empty pockets.

Voices from past

will not be stilled

shining because

they’ve seen

the darkness.

my ears are ringing

they drowned out everything

everything except the broken voices that were heard in the piercing shadow of the mind.

one mind

my mind

the ring was distant;

so faint

yet just loud enough to make the thoughts scream.

suddenly the dark alleys of my mind were awakened by street lights and sirens

the ringing became familiar

it got closer

yet i was the one moving
