dressed in armor

long daunting castles 

 lipstick stained gauntlets

 fairy godmothers failing every time 

long stairs 

and dungeons 

and rehearsal balls 

Fake heartbeats 

false starts 

false flagging 

lies encased in velvet 

kisses wrapped in silent cold nights

wilted roses 

broken pieces of your heart 

left on sheet covers 

glass slippers left on staircases 

and the prince makes a profit on it 

the path to love is rocky 

but when you find it will feel just like this 

bodies emerged into a world where nothing matters 

only to learn they can't exist
