In inky veil do hidden menaces lie

And fantasies blend to reality

All knowledge is lost

And flies within

The velvet curtain's grasp

Darkness: The True Horror

There is a world without light

Where nightmares watch you far from sight

It is a world we cannot fight

It forces us daydwellers into flight

Lovecraft once said darkness cradles the unknown

Masking haunting imagery not shown

Darkness attaches to you skin and bone

So don't go venturing into the dark alone

Solace by touch

she sought kinship

brittle lace

luminesce feelers

entwined with mine

own fingers

as demanding

as she was needy.

We lay side by side

now my pale constant

sister and I

deep beneath

the spiteful ground.

As I lie awake in the dark

"Are you afraid of the dark?"

"Yes, aren't we all?"

"No, not me."

"But why?"

"Darkness is so beautiful and calming"

As I lie awake in the dark

I think of all the possibilities,

All the places I could visit,

All the people I could meet

All the memories I could make

All the things I could do, if I wasn't afraid

So no, I am not afraid of the dark

Darkness is the one thing that doesn't scare me

It gives me courage and strength and power

As I lie awake in the dark

I become who I want to be

In my mind, all my dreams turn into reality

The light is what scares me the most

When daylight hits that's when I start to worry,

for along with the sun comes my reality.

Darkness

"In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present." - Francis Bacon

When I was a child, I was afraid of the dark;

For the dark was an epitome of everything unbeknownst to me,

And I feared what I did not know.

When my small fingers found their way to the light switch

And the shadows were eliminated in brightness

Is when I felt relief, for then I recognized everything - I was at home.

Now that I've grown up,

I'm no longer scared of the darkness.

Not because I know everything now,

But because I've learnt to be afraid of what I already do.

Darkness

That which you cannot see

Is what will always be

Somewhere just beyond

When they go they don't respond

To the mortal world, the light

Once they fade into the night

In the darkness they remain

Look too hard and go insane

You try to say their names, to shout

You try to squint, to make them out

But it's all to no avail

For the darkness will prevail

Now what I'd do

If I were you

(Of course I'm not

But I just thought)

Is try to leave and to forget

Their distant silhouettes

And let them be at peace

Until your own life doth cease

For that which you cannot see

Is what will always be

Far off and hidden

At least from the living

the inner eyelid

what if

there's another world

waiting to be discovered

but the only way

to see it

is by closing our eyes

hard enough?

Unease

In the dark, I am nothing but blind,

As eerie thoughts waft through my mind.

Exhausted with dread,

At what lies ahead,

Those monsters can be so unkind.

Long Night

The paper which had no meaning to me,

now I listen more to the news.

I ask friends that I never hang with,

to go with me everywhere.

I feel my path,

where I use to walk all the time.

I breath slowly and feel the sun.
