In love lately

A gorgeous girl and myself.

Sticky Evidence

My 6 year old son sleep-ate a donut,

And my husband got it on camera.

I just watch that video over and over.

It has everything I love most:

My baby's Beatles haircut

- with bonus bedhead -

My husband's Pillsbury Doughboy laugh,

Evidence my son's neurodiverse brain

Will bring him as much fun as it will fight,

And

An inherited passion for donuts.

Things I’ve been in love with lately

1. Blankets.

2. Tea. Earl grey and honey lavender are my favorites, especially with lots of milk. My friends and I have 'Weird Tea Day;' every monday we bring some strange flavor of tea and make the others guess the ingredients. The most vexing was a rather turquoise tea that my friend brought, but couldn't find what it was called. I remarked that it tasted exactly like an aquarium smells, and that became the general consensus. We still have no idea what was in it.

3. Lockwood and Co by Jonathan Stroud. An absolutely wonderful series involving ghost fighters in an alternate version of London. If you haven't read it, you should immediately ;)

4. Writing descriptions.

5. Math tests, weirdly.

6. Yak! Yes, the hairy cow things. Wonderful, marvelous, incredible yak, whom I am trying to get everyone to love as much as I do. They've only appeared (kind of) in one story on my Prose account, but that shall not be the end of it. One of my greatest wishes is to meet a yak. (And yes, if you were wondering, this is pretty much as random as it seems).

- listening to my dad on his work calls

- my name when typed or spoken by someone else

- the new shirts i got from Khols

- this book i’ve been reading called Simon the Fiddler which i have yet to finish but oh gosh, the writing is just so beautiful, the way the mc talks about music... i feel truly seen and understood

- cold air and the whisper of snow in the forecast

- waiting on writing competition results (which is more nervewracking than enjoyable, and i’m trying not to get my hopes up... but for at least one thing, i think i have a chance)

- the new pink color for my username on discord

- (momentarily) figuring out how to set up a bot for my friend on discord and feeling like a ~woman in sTem~

- the hamsa i colored pink, purple and blue that i taped up to the inside of my desk cork board

- my friend is responding to my texts again and i think she’s gonna be alright

Thirteen Things I Love :)

1. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy; the characters and their dialogues are so amusingly witty and the writing style is beautiful. Also, the fact that it was written by a baroness who studied art and not writing makes it twice as good.

2. Italian meatballs.

3. Teaching my brother calligraphy. He has the most awkward, scratchy, tiny writing I’ve ever seen and yet somehow he’s managing to use brush pens after a few days’ practice, and he’s so dedicated to his girlfriend that he’ll learn calligraphy just to write her an invitation to go out.

4. Vietnamese food. But that’s something I’ve been in love with all my life.

5. Writing my journal. I started journalling exactly nine days before my eighth birthday and I’m just about to complete my second book of random thoughts.

6. The sky and nature in general. I keep promising myself that one day I’m going to find some beautiful meadow spread with wildflowers and empty of other people and just lie down to watch the clouds or the stars for an hour. I just have to find the meadow :)

7. Good old Aussie meat pies.

8. The presidential slogan used by W. H. Harrison and J. Tyler, “Tippecanoe and Tyler Too.” Random, but humorous.

9. Gelati.

10. Telling Americans about Australian slang. They think it’s hilarious that football is shortened to footy.

11. Foreign sweets such as soan papdi and pandan cake :)

12. Polish tongue twisters.

13. Reading the New Testament and a marvellous book called Theology and Sanity which both blows my mind and puts it back together again.

New and Old

Sometimes, new and exciting is the best thing ever.

My new puppy: He makes everything feel lighter, and is so cute and enthusiastic about waking me up in the morning, I can’t even get annoyed about it.

3D building: Promises to be a better, cheaper, faster way to build houses. I hope this technology makes the housing market more accessible to millennials and gen z.

Sometimes, the old ways are the best.

Grass fed cattle allowed to roam in fields all day.

The traditional way of making olive oil.

Farmers markets and farm to table.

Or, a mixture can be amazing.

Old songs remixed by new bands.

A modern house that’s reminiscent of a log cabin.

These are some things I have appreciated, lately. ^_^

What is Love? ...

The few but far between clear night skies lately.

Discovering covers of old songs I loved before including Disturbed’s cover of “Sounds of Silence”

Other songs/artists on Coffee House SiriusXM.

New pieces by amazing writers here are on Prose. That bring back memories of feelings. Or concepts unthought of.

That there may still be hope for us.

time lapse

have you ever seen

the time lapse

of orange juice left out

for days?

the top turns green

with a thick crust of mold

and it looks like a mountain range of rot.

sometimes i wonder if our world is just a glass of orange juice

left out too long.

the ground beneath our feet is just mold

resting on the turmoil of liquids below.

over time, the liquid sinks,

the mold grows,

our landscape changing forever,

melting and reforming,

a great lava flow of beauty.

a time lapse makes weeks go by in seconds,

a snap of the finger and the orange juice goes bad,

the liquid turns to mold,

the gold turns to lead,

reverse alchemy.

if we sped up the millenia,

turned our world into a time lapse,

would we look like that glass of orange juice?

slowly rotting until

we're just a pile of mold?

will all that is sweet and good

be turned to bitter fungus?

maybe we are already rotting,

too naive too see the juice solidifying,

crumbling beneath our feet.

maybe we can't tell right now,

because our world is so slow.

maybe one day,

we'll be a glass of orange juice,

in a white studio room,

being left to rot under a time lapse,

and watched for entertainment.

the question is,

how many minutes

will our history

be reduced to?

maybe our world will flash by in seconds,

a time lapse watched by aliens in school,

fascinated by our failure.

the world is rotting.

can you see it?

New Norm

How people are reaching out to other people to help them through this pandemic.

People that don't judge or conclude me by the color of my skin, because it was never a choice for me.

Fear, because it is an emotion that we all share during this plague and it does not discriminate.

What I have been In love with lately

HORSES- I Ride horses, I own toy horses, I have horse stickers around my room, I have horse slippers and horse books, I even play a popular horse video game called Star Stable Online. I think what I love most about them is their big eyes and how majestic they are, to think they have been around since mid-evil times yet we still use them everyday!

THE MADOLORIAN- I know a lot of people are watching this show these days, but I think they put it together perfectly. I know my band teacher loves it, he had us watch a video about the guy who came up with Mando's theme song. Of course there is baby yoda (I prefer not to use his actually name, nor am I going to spoil it, go watch the show yourself :)), who is the cutest, not as cute as my puppy though.

MY PUPPY- Everything miss Bella does is beautiful, troublesome, and cute, hopefuly she wont change when she turns 1 on january 30th, five days away, I for one can't wait. I might get her a slipper, she loves them (She has gotten my dads old bear paw slippers a few times, and my horse slippers.... she is majorly spoiled lol).

Last but not least- MY NEW HAT THAT WORK AS EARMUFFS AND A SCARF- Everyone needs one, yes it hardly matches with anything I decide to wear but it keeps my whole head and neck warm, im loving it. The only thing I wished it had was pockets, to keep my hands warm. I should probably get my mom one... she used my hands as earmuffs once, quote: "Ahh this is why I had children," (to warm my ears)!
