A beautiful dog;

glowing by his owners side.

The smile so warm.

Staring back with love and joy;

Taking it all in with pride.

She couldn’t close her eyes, without seeing his face;

without smelling his cologne, or remembering that disgusting vodka taste.

She couldn’t close her eyes, without flashbacks of it all;

night terrors and day terrors were all her eyes now saw-

Tonic immobility took over her soul,

As she lie there helpless, having not a bit of control.

She couldn’t close her eyes then, she can’t close her eyes now;

She can’t unsee what happened-

will she ever learn how?

From place to place, and trail to trail, up mountains, and through the trees. Through the wild, amongst the unknown, swimming in ponds and in the seas.

Wandering, yet, not lost, exploring all there is to see.

Smiling all along, always knowing, my favorite view was already walking loyally next to me.

Although a physical appearance may not appear,

My spirit will still be here.

that I may be your spiritual guide.

I won’t be there to judge you,

but to help you through your mistakes,

And to encourage you,

when you have the world to undertake.
