Contemplating the colour of nothingness

Watching the sky

 A blue nothingness

No cloud, no birds  just nothingness

Takes my mind away

Floating into nothingness

A big blue nothingness

My thoughts are on nothingness

And blue

What colour is nothingness ?

Can nothingness be blue ?

This is my nothingness

So it is blue

My nothing thought becomes a something thought

What colour IS nothingness???

Is it nothing ?

 No colour ? ! ***

If so how do we know it's nothingness ?

Is it black ?

Or is white ?

I find this troublesome

Upsetting my thoughts on nothingness

If its any colour you want it be does that actually make it a something ????**

I close my eyes and think on this  nothingness

And now it's a hazy  lightish greyish blackish nothingness

With flashes of blue!!!!******

In these hours of contemplating  the colour of nothingness

 I have learnt this

The colour of  nothingness is complicated

It's many colours

It can be whichever colour you want it be

In which case my nothingness is blue

For now .

Word Worms

I think we have all heard of an Ear Worm.

That annoying tune that goes around and around in your head.

It was placed in your ear via an outside source, the radio, or that annoying person who is always whistling or humming.

Anyway, it gets into your ear and worms its way into head where it becomes a head worm,  going around and around for hours and hours until you think it will drive you mad.

The only way you can get rid of it is to pass it on, give it to someone else.

Become that annoying person who is whistling singing or humming.

Do it quietly so no one really notices you are doing it.

Hum the offending  tune quietly whist you are standing at the check out in the supermarket, or on the station platform.  Infect as many people as you can.

 Spread the Worm.

Believe me you will feel  better!

I have many different worms in my head

Songs, tunes and annoyances in general.

I also have words buzzing around and around.

 They string together and grow.

 I call them Word Worms.

They grow and grow and torment me until I write them down.

I have so, so many Word Worms in my head.

So many, that sometimes I think my head will burst.

So I am passing some on to you.

Spread the Worm my friend.

Spread the Worm!

Missing Prose.

Sometimes things just happen and time runs away.

The things we mean to do

we cant find time to do

and the things we have to do come first.

Sometimes things  just get lost amongst the hundreds of other things we have to do.

Sometimes we  just have no excuse.

I have no excuse,  except for any of the above.

For a while I forgot my love of Prose.

Carried away by other writings, other things to put down on paper,

Things to present, other stories to tell.

Sorry I have been away,

pleased to be back.

A new chapter,  dare I say!

Thinking.

I think therefore I am

But what am I?

Am I what I think I am ?

Or what others think I am ?

And what is that ?

Do they see me as I see myself ?

Or as something else ?

And if so what ?

Should it be then?

I think therefore I could be.

Tempus Fugit

Time flies

Tick tock

But the clock just ticks

Tick tick

No tock

Take stock

Broken clock

Time limps

A Pointless quest?

A rainbow has no beginning or end

It's a full circle

That's a fact !

Its all to do with Earth's horizon

That's why you will never find that crock of gold

But don't stop looking for the elusive end of the rainbow

Never stop dreaming about it

Never stop looking

You may not find your crock of gold

But it's amazing what you will find

Some things are worth more than that gold

Just keep looking

When the Barguest comes

When the Barguest comes

do not run for there is nowhere to run

do not hide for there is nowhere to hide.

It will come in the night

or in the darkest places of day

but it will come.

You may have called on the Barguest

 even without knowing

or it may have been sent for you

either way it will find you.

It follows the scent of your soul

and tracks your fear.

Even in your sleep it follows you

turning your dreams into nightmares.

There can be no escape

you may avoid it for a while

but ultimately

the Barguest will find you

and when it does

stand firm

look into its eyes

bare the smell of its fetid breath

and pray.

Do not show your fear

control your thoughts

and if you are lucky

it may let you keep your soul.

To Will, a long time friend and inspiration

Nor shall death brag thou wader'st in his shade

When your eternal lines to time thou leave

So long as men can breath and eyes can see your legacy

Long live these,

Your words

They give eternal life to thee

Nature, It is what it is (A battle of life or death)

I was siting on a warm summers evening on a tree stump at the edge of the wood

Just resting a while

It had been a very hot day

It would be a hot sticky night

Sitting quietly I heard a rustling

somewhere in the undergrowth

I searched with my eyes

After a moment or two I noticed a hedgehog that had just began its nocturnal wanderings

If it was aware of me it showed no fear and grubbed noisily in the undergrowth looking for some tasty morsals for evening break fast.

The hedgehog froze momentarily then moved forward

It seemed as if it had found something

I shifted my position slowly standing

It was then that I saw it

The hedgehog in its search  for food had discovered an adder

I watched fascinated as the hedgehog moved slowly in

And then bit the snakes tail

The adder squirmed for a moment then turned

and struck back

But the hedghog had lowered its spines covering its face like a monks hood

The risk to the hedgehog was  great

One mistake

One bite from the adder on exposed face, snout or foot and the consequences could be fatal

The headgehog would suffer a slow death

Or at the very least be very ill

But not this time

The adder spiked itself on the hedgehogs spines

It was as if it was dazed for a moment.

The adder withdrew quickly and began to move away tongue flickering tasting the air

The hedgehog followed shuffling after the snake

Biting it's tail again

The adder turned its sinewy body and struck in retaliation

But the hedgehog had lowered its spines again

The adder spiked itself

causing further injury

Again the adder attempts to move away

But its tormentor has not finished

The hedgehog follows biting again

The process continued

The hedgehog biting then lowering its spines, defending

The adder is slower now it's head and eyes bleeding

It's body covered with bites

The hedgehog bites again this time nearer to the head

The adder tries to turn painfully slowly

Its mouth is partly open

Its tongue to the side

One last twitch

It is still

The adders battle is done

The hedgehog begins to feed

Working from the tail ripping the skin open the hedgehog feasts on the exposed flesh beneath

I watch for a while longer

The headgehog dines for a while

Then moves away

Disappearing into the undergrowth

Looking for some other morsal

It leaves the half eaten adder

A meal for some other creature

This is the way of nature

It is said nature is cruel

I don't think so

It is what it is

This time the adder lost its battle providing a meal for the hedgehog

But the adder had also been hunting earlier in the day

Some unfortunate mouse or frog had been it's dinner

This is the reality of nature

It is what it is

Perfect Morning

One morning I shall wake up

Sort myself out ready for the day

and go downstairs

I shall make my cup of tea

Prepare my breakfast

and switch on the radio to listen to the news

And the radio news will say

"This is a good day"

" Peace has broken out all over the world"

" People are being kind to each other"

"Sharing food and drink "

I will open  the window

and hear

People singing

(All in tune)

and playing happy music

(But not too loud)

and I will see people

Dancing in the streets

( But not to wild)

Young folk will be helping the old

Old folk will be talking to the young

People will be polite  to each other

Back on the radio

They will anounce

"The rich are sharing out their fortunes "

and helping the poor "

"All religions are praying together "

and joining together to heal the world"

"Politicians are telling the truth"

(Sort of)

"Soldiers are laying down their guns"

I will step outside

and I will smile

The Sun will be shining

The Sky will be blue

The air will be fresh and clean

The Birds will be singing

The Bells will be ringing

and ringing

and ringing

and

I will roll over and turn off the alarm clock

and realise

It was just a dream

Oh well!
