Yet another "short but sweet" : look around wherever you are and pick out an object. Write something funny about it. entertain yourself in your mundane or strange surroundings. (don't cheat!.. or do. we wouldn't know.) The catch: you only have 15 words to draw your reader in.

I don't like that it's smirking. Weird for a dragon.

Challenge
Write about a terrible character—a monster, a villain, the worst person you have ever known—and make that character sympathetic to readers.
“The villains are all parts of me. For years I've been wondering what it would be like if all those negative elements were forced onto the main character's side. I can understand a character with that kind of anger."---Hayao Miyazaki. (Think Magneto in X-Men, the Ice King in Adventure Time, The Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera...) 100 coins to the best work :)

He wanted the world, for her. It was the drive, the core of him. What is cost to love? What is the world? The deaths, the twilight he's caused, she was worth the last drop. Even if she disagreed.

We lost a lot with the passing of Chris Cornell. To many, he was a mentor, a brilliant writer; an inimitable voice. Until June 30th, this challenge is for the friends and fans to write their stories, poems, tributes: anything about him. We will be putting together a book for the Cornell family, of the posts entered, as well as making copies available for purchase, donating all proceeds to suicide prevention. In partnership with Seattle Refined, the most shared post will be read on air, and posted on seattlerefined.com.

Dear Chris,

It was your music. Something about it felt so familiar to a little punk. I would have liked to meet you. But thank you. Thank you. Goodbye.

Prompt: Row Row Row...

Dr. Burke T. Salizar: ‘Tell me about the voices.’

Derrick B. Fey: Not voices.

‘Are they more then that?’

They’re...yes.

‘How much more?’

More. They’re-...There’s no word. There is no word.

‘Well, what do they say?’

“What are you waiting for?”

‘...and what does that mean?’

Oh, no. No idea. I’m crazy.

‘Do they say anything else?’

My name. Sometimes they sing.

'Really. Anything I’d know?'

Just, ...'aAHhaooohmaAHhaooohm-'

'That’s-, ok, thank you.’

They sound deep. Like power.

'Power? Could you elaborate?’

‘No I don't understand your hand motions. You can’t tell me?’

‘Alright. What can you tell me?’

They've gotten louder. But since yesterday, silence.

"Oh? That's good. So you don't hear them right now?’

No. Oh. Wait.

‘Derrick?’

Yes, there. There’s a few…What?

‘Here? Derrick, there’s nothing.’

They’re, it’s different this time doc. What? Are you actually gon-...

'There’s nothing here Derrick.’

They’re- wait. They're talking. They found, something. Oh! Oh.

'There's nothing here! Security, Code Blue Exam 4. Just sit tight Derrick.'

Everything's ok doctor, they found it. What I was waiting for.

'What's that?'

A boat.

And light fell from his eyes.

Row, Row, Row...

Absurdly tall but incredibly small. Suction cups for eyes and a thirst for blood. Magician blood. Not wizards. Very attention seeking though surprisingly shy. Blond of course. Dusty blond. Surrounded at all times by five distinct things, each slightly more deadly then the other.  He does wear khakis though that's not a strike against him. Above all else, he has a kind heart, and a solid disposition to abstract expressionism. @famewiter

I saw her today. Glistening, glowing faintly in the sweet night. How could I express?  She dances with poise, sincere; her scales atwitter as my heart. Oh Jez, you shimmer in the dark. You miraculous thing. You, champion of charm; envoy of elegance; your slime sublime saturates my mind! and your tentacles are delightful.

What we could accomplish, should we ever shift our focus from 'Areas-for-Improvement', to talent.

Challenge
We're all caught in their strings, our actions aren't all our own.

Such as tethered? Because, sure, you could say that. 'Connected' is more accurate. The link is beneficial. it's purposeful; 'Tethered' is stuck.

'Their is difficult as well. It's almost a they, better a many-as-one deal; 'they' act in the singular.

See, there is a continuous distinct hookup between not only all-living things but all things "alive" you dig? Culminating in the sizable collection of unconsciousness we refer to as 'life'. We may as well be referred to as one, through the whole of this creation process we're all finding ourselves in.

So to the strings part, there is a disconnect in our cognition of all this. 'Their' intentions are really 'our' intentions, acting without getting why. It hurts to harm things. We're the dog biting it's tail. A severe tunnel vision we've framed as reality.

Yes! It is an illusion. We are living Lies!

And as for why this is beneficial, very simply, we get something amazing.

It's a chance at being alive.
