This is not about you

I see your name

written in the flashing lights

like a one-sided conversation

painted in the morse code of my mind

I’m a little buzzed

they serve me drinks in plastic cups

You used to smell like cigarettes

I couldn't stand it

I dream of glass

Copy/Paste

                            Now I’m drinking

                            from a dusty mug.

She makes eye contact only with the clock on the wall.

Sometimes I try to smile but my mouth only pulls at the corners.

Every face I draw has black eyes.

And now we move on to the final act!

I still stare into my coffee.

It’s all the same no matter how you read it.

                            But she loved me forlornly,

                            and got in my head.

REVIVAL

Citizen! Save yourself.

Kane is able,

--- the shooter is the shot.

Gaze into your own damn eyes for once.

Peanut Butter for Breakfast (nonsense)

Frankie honey

I can’t kiss you

I ate peanut butter for breakfast

I wake up blank

the ceiling never changes

I wake up staring

I wake up to baptismal rain

but with unknown cuts and forgotten bruises

I wake up dirty

dual duel

two fights two foes

a nonsense duet

instead of dying

I’ll move inside a song

maybe a mattress or a flashlight

remember to water your houseplants

turn off the tv

the dog shakes with music when you leave

I wonder what I’ll forget

how much of me

is memory?

what will you mean

how do you spell that

I’d like to write it down

airborne wishes

they bomb my windshield

more reliable than anything

exist in obscure states

dissolve in the seam

write, child, and like a child, write

give me the shot

wait - quick, give me two

I laugh at vaccines

Abnormal

doorways frames and isolation

cracks in the sidewalk

cracks in the ceiling

tea in between them

what do the leaves say

she comes clean

was worried about omens

thought it would be bad luck for the tree to die

so she stomped it out

so she never let it live

Triplet Points

It's a beautiful day Diane

but I'm stuck in between

I lost myself to the

mirror me

I feel ancient

I draw wolves

burn it down

she taunts me

Your Startup Disk is Almost Full (Notes to Self about a Deep-seated Fear of Failure)

They're off doing drugs

I've never heard of before

okay but zoomed out

she found death to be

tremendously

boring

sometimes people

just don't feel

the same way

more like this

people talking

side-eyeing each other

outsides and insides

why do I suck at drawing hands?

Shift there

closer together

and to the left

"I had a dream last night that I was a spy/hitman in dark sunglasses

running around D.C. stealing cars."

How do you even draw an elbow?

I need a new pen.

Time is passing,

refill your glass and your conversation

Why do we need a new year to make a resolution?

Dr. Awkward has entered the building.

Leave me Alone.

There are

moments of tension

b/w what is said and what is seen.

understated.

mirrors and blank faces.

I envy statues.

Champagne Travesty.

Cupcake Wine.

I have nothing here.

Has it become so hard

so wrong

for me to keep my nothing?

Do you love easily?

yes and no.

Who the fuck are you?

This might sound a little strange...

you were in my dream

and then I took you out of it with me.

the only way to get better at drawing faces is to draw more of them.

Get me out of here

I have cabin fever

We're sick of casting shadows,

of blocking out the light

Your startup disk is almost full.

I would like to be left alone, from now until forever thank you very much.

Summer 2016, Otherwise Known as the Summer I Killed My Golden Sage

Crying, unearth your herb dreams.

This is not the transfiguration you prayed for.

Laying basil bones to rest,

realize you must be shit out of luck

when your sage dies.
