The Birds

I sit here in darkness

Total silence.

Worshipping my Lord

A bird nearby sings

Praising his.. with his very own gift.

Then in the distance,

I hear more birds like him.

Beautiful, singing

It's Dawn

The sun has yet to rise

We are in unison, the birds and I

Praising our Lord

For the ability to FLY

Black Hate

The melanin that runs through my veins is hated

By most,

They taught us lies,

“Youre nothing ! Not even a full man

¾ at most !”

Slaves, with forgotten names

I look around and it's all still the same.

They're not afraid of how we look ,

Nor how we walk and talk

No

They’re dismay is at the POWER our melanin holds.

They keep us divided because an educated black King or Queen

Is entirely too powerful for them to intervene

They can't push us in jail when we know our rights

Or steal our money if we can count it right

Invest it, cultivate it, grow it amongst ourselves.

So they give us drugs and lock our fathers up in tiny cells

And we think they deserve it because of what the media sells

We hate ourselves, our connection is faded

We must turn to God, He's in control , He is the greatest

He made us great too

Carbon under pressure shines bright like diamond

Until we learn to love, forgive and understand

we will continue to suffer

The disease of hate and miseducation is what plagues the black hustler

Peace and blessings to all the soldiers among us.

Rain

Warm

Humid grass

Enters my soul

Awakens my senses.

It’s so warm out,

My hair sways in the breeze

Curly frizz whispering to me

It’s wetter than it seems.

My mother

Yells from the doorway.

“Come on inside!

I think it’s going to rain.”

I look up to the heavens

The clouds gathering,

Joining,

Their fat bellies.

The trees dance,

With excitement.

Reaching out their arms

Ready for their drink.

I start to walk back,

One look back before I close the door

Just in time

To be blessed with a little smooch

From castles above.

My Heart

It swells when I look at you.

Both of you.

The way you need me,

and laugh when I make a funny face.

You eat my food and smear it all over the place.

Fuss when mommy's in a bad mood.

Cry when you want to sleep

but need mommy's lovin before you can fall in deep.

I love your baby language

and how you use your eyes to speak.

The way you hug and kiss me

Thats when my heart is at its peak.

I love you both so very very much

My love will never quiet down

and will never be hushed.

God really blessed me

My little boy

My little girl

He chose me as your mommy

and made you my world.

Waking Up Early

Waking up early is a super hard task.

Imagine. Laying in bed, warm and snug. The love of your life lightly snoring next to you. You gently reach over and stroke their hair, feeling their breath entering and leaving their body.

And the baby, cradled softly in a dream. Her warm, fuzzy skin stuck to yours by an unseen, but definitely felt law.

The baby in my belly kicks. He’s hungry. He felt the blessing though, my eyes had opened.

I get up, bathroom. After Wudu, I look in the mirror smiling wide and tell myself “Wow, you’re amazing.” and quickly go thank the Almighty Creator for the blessing of this very moment.

I told myself to be stronger. Waking up early is my first blessing of the day, I prepare myself to recieve many many more.

I will no longer let houghts of weak procrastination control me and effect the things I love. Thats not me anymore.

Waking up early is a super hard task.

But I am determined to win the first battle.

John

My sweet Romeo.

So handsome, misleading.

I was so young then,

Didn’t recognize the feeling.

We walked one rainy night

My sister had to come too.

She honored us with privacy,

To talk and watch the moon.

He was a bad boy, piercing in his tongue

I was a sweet young girl, wanted to have some fun.

I had never kissed before, i gave him my first one.

Right there, under the wet tree

In the park

Sis later told me

She wanted to barf.

I would’ve too, had i known

That years later

Id be his clown

He asked for my innocence

For his love, I was down

We did it

In the basement

I honestly wasnt ready

Then i found out he cheated

Last night.. thats right

But everyone knew that already.

Thats what happened to me,

For believing in fairytales

Be careful ladies..

They tend to hide their scales
