I Start... You Finish
Ok... So we're gonna try this again. I loved @LEBass's ONE SENTENCE at a time challenge and wanted to do the same with a slightly different SINGLE SENTENCE. So I'm going to post the first sentence and each person adds a sentence onto the person before them. For example, Johnny would write a sentence to continue the story and Sarah would build onto that sentence and so forth and so on. Then, when the challenge is concluded I'll string together the SINGLE SENTENCE contributions and we'll have a short story! Please title your sentence the # of your contribution.

Back Again

So there I was on my back, in the darkness. I was paralyzed and confused. I had no fucking idea where I was, and my head felt as if it ran into a brick wall. My lips felt like sandpaper, my mouth drier than the Sahara. If that wasn’t bad enough, the smell in the room was nauseating. Completley retched. It smelled like a pig sty garnished in vomit. That’s when I realized, I was back. With him again.

Moon Mistress

"Moon Mistress" Aida Sanchez

August 14, 2017 :Year 27

The stars were my guide as I quickly ran along the forest floor. The brisk autumn air tickled my nose, and my feet crunched through the auburn leaves. The shimmering sky created an iridescent glow that illuminated my path. I walked into the forest for what seemed like hours, never resting, as sleep was unnecessary. Fatigue did not exist, exhaustion but a myth. Mind over matter is all that drove my poor lost soul.

As I followed the shadows of the dead pine trees, I began a journey of everlasting memories. I was lucid, as my subconscious unlocked. Awareness of the forgotten, surrounded me in sorrow, heartbreak, and turmoil, and it provoked my heart to tear and crack. How will I continue, after such a tormented past? Depression leered around the corner while isolation somberly sang, to the tune of Satan's strings, haunting my every move, paralyzing within. The road was rocky and desolate but I continued to walk. Even though my thoughts were as torturing as an earthworm on a hot summer rock.

I approached a dense corner of the woods and could barely see in front of me. There, reflecting off the incandescent moon was a shallow pond. Inside, standing confidently, radiating hope and trust, a lovely lotus flower was growing up from the muck. As I bent down to examine its charm, I saw a spark flash before me, immersing the heavens with great light. It was just enough to barely see, a curious sight in front of me.

There, in the clearing between the willow wisps and cattails, stood a man, tall, strong and bold. His hair was amber, and his eyes felt familiar, an alluring green. Who was this mysterious stranger, a friend or a foe? Or possibly a lover unknown? With each footstep that struck the ground, I felt his energy and felt his heart beating loud. He came to me, embraced my soul, making my body quiver from head to toe. His eyes piercing into mine, he asked, "Why do you tread alone, in this world that is untold? Do you not know the peril which can unfold? Are you aware of the chaos upon this globe?"

Worn and weak, I looked at him with uncertainty, and began to speak.” You must think I am so frail to wander aimlessly. You must think I am unsteady to blindly walk this trail. But even though I do seem lost and utterly powerless, there is something caged deep within. For I have trekked through this muck, and haven't lost a battle yet."

The man gazed at me, and it felt as if he was reading my soul. Drowning with serenity, he was captivated and purely mesmerized. The sky above, turbulent with clouds, the moon shined down, full, beautiful and proud.

He again, looked into my being and asked, "Why is it that you are so masked? Your beauty is disguised, as you hold up your facade. Do you not want to be seen by me? I can comfort you so easily. Come, grasp my hand, and we can together, escape this gloomy land!"

I gazed into his enchanting eyes and cried out to my surprise,

"Please," I said, take me away! Hold me tightly and never stray, Allow my conscience to merge with yours, show me what I do deserve. Cradle me, while we flee from this place of misery."

He heard my plea, this man of vivid victory. He scooped her up, body and dress, and ran into the woods, protecting me, his treasure chest.

He ran and ran until he tired, and then he layed me down on a bed of green. He said to me, "Please don't be shaken. Come to me, I will show you the way. Place your head on my chest, and believe, I will handle the all the rest."

And so I did, as I was told, and my life began to unfold.

As our skin touched and our bodies met, I laid my ear upon his chest. The warmth of his body filled my breath, with every sensual caress. Taken by purity and joy, I began to weep, as never before.

The man, confused so much, looked to me, and asked, "Why are you so upset? I am sorry for saddening you so, do you wish that I shall go?"

I stared at his purity quite perplexed and felt my pain resurrect. I sobbed and wailed, repressed gloom prevailed. Your compassion, your aura, your ambiance, your empathy, your complexity envelopes me. My heart yearns, this is true. While anxiety brews within, creeping fear begins to win. With an ironclad clasp, my worries and doubts, drag me down, darkness and despair persuade me this love won't last.

I must continue on my journey until I learn to love and grow. A broken heart must mend before I give myself to you once more. Once the day arrives that will be able to arise you will find me at your side.

The man smiling, glistened by the light of the moon, took my hand and said, "Please do not speak so soon, you have such strength your beauty is rare. An artistic spirit dancing with the air. Afraid, be not, I will never let you go, this tenderness, infatuation, this overwhelming admiration, will never cease to exist for this destiny is infinite and will endlessly grow. Do not doubt your heart, my love. For what we have is greater than, the sky, the sea, the stars, the land. Fear not, now grasp my hand. We are soulmates, lost but found. When the earth trembles and lightning strikes the ground, the essence of our attraction illuminates the hear and now. Together we may heal ourselves, regardless of how the past has felt. Kiss me now, and you will see, we are meant for eternity."

I drew my lips close to his, and when they met, thunder boomed and an explosion ignited the world, fading all the dreaded doom. Our lips met for the first time, It was as if a lightning bolt had frozen time. I stared at him in such awe, but he just smiled and looked into my eyes. I felt so very hypnotized. You and I are meant to be, I feel this electric chemistry when your lips fell unto mine, the universes did collide.

I now wept, and wept, and wept, my tears filled the rivers, lakes, and ponds, salty tears cured the droughted land. I filled the lagoons, and the streams, I filled the creeks and oceans too, I filled the hearts who had no clue. How can this be possible, I asked, “how can love mend pain at last? Is this reality, am I sane?”

He answered, with a trembling voice, "Don't allow your pretty head to fall Love can fix all, and wake the dead, heal the sick, and feed the poor.

Love lives perpetually, awakening the darkness forever more."

I looked to him, and became lost within his fiery eyes one more time,

"My love, my breath, my soul my life, my moon, my sun, my star, my soul awakening knight. You led me on this path to see, how thankful I am

that you rescued me."

Flannels and Scarves

The jack-o'-lanterns glare

With an overcast sky

The orange and red leaves

Fall from the sky

The children are giddy

Halloween is here

Crunch, crunch

Goes the leaves

Under each eager foot

Trick or treat sings from their mouths

As they gather their loot

Apple cider takes over

Dominates the air

Pumpkin spice might be better

Some will declare

Yet we all stay cozy

Wrapped in flannel and scarfs

Sipping warm nostalgia

Melting the heart

Tornado

Tanslucent diamonds fell from the sky disappearing into the dense pavement like crystal clear explosions. Wind howled like a lonely wolf wandering aimlessly into the woods. Trees uprooted while branches broke apart, as if being destroyed by an invisible menace. This storm was different, so unfamiliar. Creeping cautiously, secretly, almost maliciously. Like a magnet, I am drawn to it's mystery. Lost and exhausted, unable to see, I try to ground myself, but the cement disappears, I am confronted with my deepest fears. Alone and abandoned I look to the sky, but clouds are intangible, and my eyes fill with pain, and begin to cry. Purple and red, black and grey, my world was once lush with vibrancy, but now I am afraid. Walking on eggshells, uncertainty prevails, funnel clouds in the distant, panic swells. Searching through the chaos calling to the heavens for help. Why is there no answer ? What hand have I been delt? Confused the tornado passes over me, barely touching. Reality fades away as I fall with a thud onto the cold damp earth. My heart is pounding in my ears, and I reminecse about the years shared. A weak smile overcomes the hate, but not long enough to dissapate the heartache. Calmly I rise now, the cowardly sun breaks through the darkness , and once again I trek alone against the light that cradles me cold.
