There have been several mirror challenges but in this case we take and use the word "reflection" somewhere in your write. Poetry or Prose. It cannot be used as a title. Use it as a reflection of life, what you feel or see, long ago memories, or all the "what if's" ... Take "reflection" and run with it!
Make sure I am tagged only in the comment box and not the piece itself so I can get to you to read it in a timely manner as such @Danceinsilence

Daughters

I look back over the years.

Some good, some bad,

But fear...

It has come over me like no other.

Sometimes I cant believe I'm your mother.

I try my best to be better.

Handle every storm no matter the weather.

My daughters have to see,

I'm everything I want them to be,

Just be a reflection of me.

Just be a reflection of me.

The challenge is to use the words “thick as thieves” in your write and "exactly" 21 words, not counting the title. But remember, the title will not show up in your word count so be careful.
Make sure you tag me in the comment section and not on your post as such: @Danceinsilence or I may never get to see or read your work

Hush

Lost in silence.

It was all in vain.

No words spoken,

Caused more pain.

Shredded fibers,

Inside my head.

I lie alone sad.

Alone this bed.

Peep-hole

Drifted off into a world full of darkness.

All she saw was a small light in the distance.

She followed it to see what it was.

A tiny window. Size of a peep-hole.

She kneels down to look through.

On the other side she sees all the good.

The good which she lost so long ago.

So close. Yet so far.

Emancipated

Before you I was nothing.

But I'm not saying that YOU made me something.

You have helped me to see.

But I'm not saying that YOU changed me.

I've grown now and know my worth.

But I'm not saying that YOU put in the work.

I now understand the value of time.

But I'm not saying that YOU were sublime.

The greatest teacher in life is pain.

The greatest teacher in life was YOU.

Wouldn't be the woman I am today though. So, I'll just simply end with a THANK YOU.

At First Sight

Marie finally awake from what seemed to have been an eternity of darkness. She opened

her eyes seeing for the first time the world around her. After 23 years of absolute darkness

she felt like a child once again able to explore this huge place for herself. Thinking out

loud, "Simply amazing”. To her left was the love of her life, David. Finally able to see

him in a way she never had before. After years of deciding if she wanted to try to get an

eye donor husband and his lifelong friend Dr. Burks were able to find the perfect match.

Happiness was short lived shortly after her release from the hospital. With memories she

had never seen, memories she would never know, and things she could not understand.

What started as a simple dream shortly became more real to her than ever. Flashbacks, of

a girl, brown skin, shoulder length black hair, and eyes she could not see but only see

through. She was no more than 16 years old and no less than 12. She ran through the darkness. But from what? Or who?

Marie was simply confused and had no idea what this meant. Days, and then weeks with

the same dream which later turned into visions. She decided to tell David.

“The strangest thing, I’m seeing a girl, no girl I’ve ever seen before, she’s running,

through darkness, she seems to be afraid, I don’t know what this is about”

“Hunny your insane, maybe you need to rest, the surgery is probably still taking its toll”

“But no, it’s so strange, it seems so real, she’s only a child, brown skin, jeans, white shoes

is ALL I can see, I CAN NOT let this go”

David turns to her with his brow raised with confusion on his face. “Marie, I have your

medication and some water. Take it and go to bed.”

Marie crept off into the room as David begin to make a phone call to Dr. Burk letting

him know what Marie was saying.

The night only seemed to get a little stranger for Marie. Every day she was able to see

more and more of what seemed to be a part of her creative imagination. She slowly drifted away to sleep.

Flashes of light, and the young girl continuing to run, but her dreams are having more

sounds. The girl cries. She screams for help. No one can hear her. “But there’s someone

else there. I hear another set of feet” “Who is she running from?” Ahead she sees a train

track. The lights were glaring over from the abandoned track. This is too familiar. But Marie can’t make herself wake up. "Whose eyes am I seeing through?" Running past

a mirrored image, Marie is able to see her face, She jumped out of her sleep only left

to wonder what happened to the young girl.

This time she kept it to herself because the person closest to her only made her feel crazy.

Maybe she was losing her mind. There was no other explanation. Finally able to stand the

light she decides to go for groceries. Before she could enter, she spots a missing persons

poster. The face was yet again so familiar. The young woman was the one she had been seeing in her visons and

dreams. 15 year old Vanessa Davenport, missing from the Denver area for more than a

month. The girl was a neighbor to David’s parents. Her heart began to pound, and slowly

began to sink. As quick as she came, she turned to run off home. Eager to see more

tonight she decided to call it an early night. She took her medication and drifted to sleep.

“Leave me alone” “Mama” “Someone help” The most intense cries Marie had ever heard.

More vividly than her other dreams had ever been. The girl seemed to be running forever.

But tonight was the night Marie would see something that would have her regretting her

new eyes. The young girl falls to the ground. Before she could get back up someone

grabbed her. Turning her over, and through that girls eyes she saw a very familiar face.

She saw David. The young girl cries as Maries own husband steals her last breath as he holds his hands around her neck. No more

more than 2 minutes later, the life left her young body.

Marie awake more frightened than ever. And by now it was around 10 o’clock P.M. To

her right laid her husband David sound asleep.

“Could this be real? Am I really crazy?” was all she was able to think to herself. Despite

the pain she had she was unwilling to take her medication in fear of dreaming again.

Marie made her way down the stairs into the living room where the laptop was kept. She

begin to search all she could on this young girl. In the search bar she typed, Vanessa

Davenport. Unaware that the girl had been discovered less than a week after the date she

went missing. The pictures of the lifeless body of the missing girl were plastid all on the internet. One thing that caught her eye, were the missing eyes of the girl. They also

stated her heart pendant was missing. Beginning to breathe heavily, she slammed the

computer shut.

Later the next morning, with David out of the house she decided to look around. Starting

with his personal area in the garage. There was a box, David told her to never touch. He

had the box locked at all times, and her trust led her to listen. Marie decided to disobey

her husband and open the box. The very first thing she spotted was a heart pendant,

similar to the one missing from Vanessa. Instead of calling the police, she waited for David to get home to address him with what she had found.

Around 5 P.M, David arrives home from work. With Marie sitting on the couch waiting,

David walks over to kiss her. Swinging the pendant in her hand, she lets him know it’s time to talk.

“What is this?” David said as he began to get more agitated by the second.

“You tell me. The dreams, the missing poster, the missing pendant, the missing eyes,

please tell me I’m losing my mind.”

David paused for a second to send a text. Without a second guess, David began to tell the

story of how Marie got her eyes.

“I saw her, she was so beautiful as she always was. I had seen her many times before. Her

eyes were so blue, so beautiful and I knew you wanted that eye transplant. There were no

better eyes for such a beautiful woman than those eyes. I asked her to come to the car.

She told me no. Why the Hell did she tell me no? She ran and I ran harder. I couldn’t let

her get away. I caught her and she screamed. I didn’t want to hurt her. I grabbed her neck

and squeezed. Only until she was quiet, that’s it. Can’t you see I did this for you?”

Before he could finish there was a knock on the door. David opened it and to her surprise

it was Dr. Burk. This made her feel a little safer. David continued to tell her what

happened next. Marie began to feel uncomfortable and felt as though Dr. Burk knew more than he led on.

“I got the eyes for you. Dr. Burk helped us. You owe him. But instead you want to be an

ungrateful nosey bitch and ask ask ask away! She had it coming. She could have just came

easy but she wanted to fight! I got you the most beautiful blue eyes. I did this for you.”

David explained as he paced back and forth.

“The eyes… the eyes belong to the girl you killed!!” Her eyes began to tear. She felt as if

her whole life was a lie. Before she could speak again, Dr. Burks’ hands were around her

neck. All of the memories begin to flash before her both hers and Vanessa. Within that

first minute, Marie had taken her last breathe. With her lifeless body lying on the floor,

David began to once again carve those precious eyes that he loved so dearly.

“All you had to do was just leave it alone.”

He whispered in her ear as if she could hear him.

“The eyes, all I ever wanted to do was to look in those eyes.”
