Hoping with every fiber of my being

Everything will turn out like my dreams-

A sucker punch to the gut tells me otherwise.

Resting my head on a heavy metal lullaby,

The shooting stars are my blanket tonight.

Something is living inside me

With no intentions of release

Threatening my world to destroy.

Like poison slipping through my veins

Dark tendrils searching for my brain

To leave me empty and devoid.

Creeping into my dreams at night

When I have all but lost my sight

Weak, I let the demons deploy.

Ethereal sensations pass through me as he searches for his answer,

Yielding to the slightest touch of his hand as my own

Eyes stare deeply into his golden browns, and I

Smile and whisper such body-tingling endearments.

Living on the edge

Thriving for the thrill.

Fingers crossed, I pledged-

It's like an addictive pill.

Closer and closer I get,

Exposed to the danger.

Never a need to fret,

Only my soul to wager.

3rd degree burns from adrenaline

Taking the road less traveled by.

Adventure comes with the wind-

Sound forth a battle cry.

Secrets flowing in eel-shocked rivers

So dark and deep, I shiver.

Purple Butterflies fly around me

brushing my cheek with

Gossamer wings.

Like kisses from a Summer's Breeze,

So gentle it tickles

And I smile Carmine Roses.

In the safe-guarding Sunlight

their wings glisten

Like tissue paper made from Amethyst.

I feel them in my hair

On my neck

My arms.

They rest on my body

Wings opening and closing

O p e n i n g and closing

O p e n i n g

and

Closing.

I reach for the Star

Desiring to have a piece for myself

to hold Brilliance in my hands

to hold on to it a little longer.

To my delight, a Visitor

alights on my hand.

In awe, I examine

the Tiny Creature

Amazed by the metallic

Swirls of Lavender

And then they close and

Deep Plum purple

looks at me with Diamond Eyes.

In the Sunlight they sparkle

Illuminating my skin in myriads of Color.

I giggle Pure Wonderment

As another one lands on

My nose.

Then in a Breath of Diaphaneity

They

with a Farewell Kiss

All of them.

The dazzling Bodies

Depart in a Spiral of Delicacy

Taking with them a

Part

of Me.

I chased after Them

until I could run no more.

It was like a piece of my very being-

of my Soul-

Left on the Wings of sweet Lavender.

Since then

I cry Silver Tears

waiting

for their return

waiting

until the Missing Piece

Is returned to me.

Only in a dream, I would run

From the dark tendrils of the sun

Seeking to snatch me from safety

Making me wretch, my thoughts crazy

My wits are unwound, I'm undone.

Useless efforts spent to outrun 

The trepidity has begun

Threatening to consume me.

Only in a dream.

Slowly disintegrating, one

By one, in the heat of the sun

Dragging me out to the black sea

Where is the valor? There is none-

Only in a dream. 

Singing the song of unfulfilled desire

If each night was a log, I could build a hearty fire

Nefarious wishes fill up my mind

Grandiose fantasies pathetically substitute what I have pined

Leaving me empty and struggling to fill the space

Erstwhile I still love through ethereal grace
