Defiant

Never go quietly into the night

Battling those demons of aging

Fighting each day to remain relevant

So long as our heart beats our spirit is still raging

Our bodies battle the tests of time

Though we are not that strength of old

Our determination will long endure

So long we remain strong, fearless and bold

Failure is never an option we accept

Though age and time have stolen away

Much of our endurance and constitution

We still have much more to accomplish and say

Perhaps over time our eyes have dimmed

Our hairs thinned or gone gray and white

We make up our shortcomings with experience

With the will power to do what’s right

No, we will not go quietly to meet our maker

But will hold on to life tightly by the reigns

When we ride off into the distant sunset

With our well used earthly remains
