Church Again
As I sit here at the funeral for a close family member today , thought I'd
share
A death brings me to church again
This house of the forsaken
Less breath bereave my family my friend
For their soul to come be taken
While a Gospel hymn is sung out loud
I approach the casket slowly
To listen for the slightest sound
Of anything more holy
If my faith is my religion
Then my father please forgive me
My heart should be forgiven
I will faulter as I'm living
Still searching for some meaning
Thru each lesson life has taught me
Yet hurting while I'm dreaming
As I question what it's brought me
A death brings me to church again
To remind me, I'll be passing
Never how but only when
I will join the everlasting ...
