Slain by Soft Blossoms

Dead rats rotting on my doorstep

sordid hate laughing in my ear

vitriol chomping on my guts

blood raining in buckets on soul.

I yearn for the silent peace

emptiness giving me solace

I want to expand my lungs

breathe you in and love once more.

Outside forces banged on our windows

as we struggled and sunk into oblivion.

I remember the touch of your love

glowing fireworks of sparkling light.

Alas, the sky has emptied and is barren.

I forgive you one last time

but our love has been slain

by the softest of blossoms on our skin.
