Static

It flits through

the breathless city

flickering- static-

an undertone-

the hum of

lifelessness

Sound comes

and goes easily

filtered into

meaningless noise

but it knows

what music is

It vibrates with

the idea of emotions

reaching out into

thin air

touching nothing

and everyone

Maybe it’s sad

or doesn’t know

the life it’s missing

but more likely

it knows exactly

how much it doesn’t
