I See Nothing

On the wall, atop a stair

See a mirror, placed with care

Simple shape, a smallish square

Framed with gold, for eyes to glare.

Must I look? I cannot bear

It might just crack if I should stare

I stand in front, I am nowhere

You cannot see what isn’t there.
