This view up here

The land was barren the sky was black

All amongst this haneous crack

The birds the bees the grass the trees

they once were here so peacefully

New sights and sounds this crack had found

And spread them all along the ground

The dead it spreads just like they said

Some just died and others fled

But me I had to stand and wait

watch my home turn from gold to slate

From on this hill I watched them burn

And wonder when it'd be my turn

I choked on smoke and shed my leaves

Whatever else the breeze unweaves

And then they came the winds of change

And with them a decade worth of rain

It quenched my thirst and made me shiver

And turned that crack into a river
