Maneater

"Greed is really Hunger in another form. Greed is what happens when you've been starving and finally get the chance to eat. You gorge yourself until you are sick. You eat and eat because you know that a time will come when you will not to be able to eat again."

He looks at her, brow wrinkled.

"I don't think I get it."

She smiles,

"I'm not surprised,"

She lights a cigarette and takes a pull.

"I can take one look at you and see that you haven't had a hungry day in your life."

This is a form of writing called a triptych. It consists of 3 syllables per line, 3 lines per stanza and 6 or 9 stanzas per poem. Any subject. Have fun with it. *******If you are looking at this challenge at this point, please also look at some notes I published this morning under the title Triptych Challengers...it has some additional information I'd want you to be aware of. Thanks.*******

I wish I

were someone

else perhaps

A flower.

Blooming bright

Perfection

A moment

that once lost

is forever,

Or is it?

Never sad

No reason

No purpose

Commitments

Are none, all

useless here.

Challenge
What do you sound like? We all have a voice but we never get to hear it. So lets try this one. Describe your voice. Tone, accent, anything unusual about it. Let's see if we can stretch it out to the minimum word length of 50...poem preferred but whatever you are more comfortable with. I will try one too. don't forget to tag me.
mercyrose in Stream of Consciousness

To all my husky voiced sistas

I sound like a man,

I am convinced of it.

That would be ok if I was a man, but I am not.

I crave to be feminine,

Light,

Airy,

Beautiful.

But my voice is like my body.

Heavy,

Deep,

Strange.

I hate it.

My sister sounds just like me.

On the phone my mother cannot tell us apart.

My sister is beautiful.

It does not add up.

My voice defines me,

but hers gives her strength.

Challenge
How are you different? Why should you be considered unique - unlike the 7 billion other people in the world?
mercyrose in Poetry & Free Verse

That’s not how it works.

I am different because I long to be different, isn't that how it works?

If I wish it enough doesn't it come true?

Can I not shed my useless skin and emerge

A Dragon, breathing Fire.

Challenge
You have to teach an alien what love is. The alien can only understand haiku. You cannot use the word 'love'
mercyrose in Poetry & Free Verse

Is it worth it?

Pain like the rose thorn

Sweet like the smell of that rose

They are but the same
