a moment.

He stood on the shore before an endless expanse of water - except it was not water. It looked like water; it swirled and rushed and pooled. His feet, bare, toes tucked into smooth sand; dry. The expanse, silent and deafening, pushed against his body, but he stood steady; immoble; a statue; a speck of constant nothingness, surrounded by a slick colorful spiraling mess of chaos. fragments of the pretend.

Panic and peace

Printed on trembling fingers

Touched only by the bowing drywall

As they curl into fists

Hidden from the world

Binded anger, fury falling against the paint

Mask slipped away

Then righted

Not peace

Nor panic

Just nothing

Just blank

Just like they want.
