Colours of Spring

Upon its arrival winter ends

Light shines through once more

It warms the soul

And melts the frosty white canvas of winter

Spring’s light brings colour to the world

Brings all we need for life to flourish

Awaken from sleep

Chilling winds return to just a breeze

Only enough to stroke the flowers

As they too have just woken up

Just in time for honey bee

As they wake from the smell of sweet nectar

Oh how spring brings back life

To the trees that were bare in winter

It brings colour, warmth and lightens one’s spirit

With thoughts of breathing easier

Enjoying simple walks

Picnics by the lake

Listening to the world coming to life

As all awaken from deep slumber

When Spring Comes

Spring brings with it a certain lilt, a harmonious sense of purpose and wonderment. Spring brings back life in the flowers ever delicate with their rosey reds, deep purples, ever brighter yellows, and the softness of pink.

There floats around us a certain air, a vibrant scent of life returning back to the fold. And just when you are first amazed at this life-transition of nature, it takes on another look, perhaps only a vision behind the mind’s eye, perhaps that quiet decadence, when sunlight spreads its warmth and comfort to each place where beauty returns.

A field of poppies and daffodils, a rose garden, trees repopulate their green shaded leaves, or even the hint of a spring lake rising up to breathe in; nature at her finest brings new resolve to us all, giving purpose for the long-awaited season that beckons us to till our soil and plant new beauty.

Spring is and always has been, a sensual journey into the colors that surround our lives.

Come, walk with me and breathe in what nature gives us. It doesn’t get any better than this.

gentle breezes

your soft sunlight grazes my fingertips

as his vibrant scent settles around us.

but somehow, him and you do not contradict,

for the sweet pink roses that bloom in his heart

are the same as the ones that decorate the grass.

you smile and regain your strength,

and he smiles as he uses his strength to pull me close.

as the winds grow warm, you shed your well-worn coat and stretch,

your luminous rays kisssing our bare bodies and his lips kissing mine.

and we stay like that for a while,

entangled in soft limbs and your bright shine

in this meadow of dewy roses and gentle breezes.

If the Sky Reopens

I remembered today

While celestial tears still clung to my lashes

A time before

On a day filled with the scent of blossoms

When you sprouted beneath me

And instead of dead dry leaves

The sunlight reached into soft soil

And pulled us up together

Pink and vibrant and new

And together we grew

You touched my rose petal skin

While I kissed your ripened lips

And up on the hips of the world

Delicate green leaves shaded our shimmering eyes

Under the guise of forever

But today the sky is still closed

Because every beauty ends

Though I dream of its reopening

And hope you will return to me

Reborn of spring and aching ecstasy

March Idle

March is the windy month

when hair whips about

and hats take their leave

when snow melts into puddles

freeze into ice in the sun

when coats turn to jackets

a little too soon

March is the edge of spring

the intoxicating scent of the snow

pulling back into pockets of shade

before the smell of vibrant green

puts us all out of our senses

as icicles drip to nothing in the sunlight

March is the dappled month

flecked with mud and ice and

the first miraculous crocuses

unfurl from beneath the wet

ground and earth one

half frozen half molten

yet those first delicate blossoms thrive

bolder than cultivated blooms

March is the time of contradictions

greys as the slush and mud meld

slinking away to hide in shadowed corners

glowing petals illuminated like glass

red, pink, purple against the grey

still too cold, already too warm

raining most when you forget an umbrella

March is... a breath

breathed from enormous lungs

ever so gently, just warm enough

to bring back to life

the cold-stiffened huddles of winter

a time for a breath, to breathe

to bask in the sun with a book

get mud on your shoes

March is when the adventures thaw

frozen all winter, postponed, hibernating

surviving on scraps of promised sunshine

bursting gloriously into view

the sky is clear blue, or cloud-scoured

the creeks thawed, or nearly

the day shining or petulant

but the air invigorated

alive with what is to come

Look at that girl,

Blue eyed and yellow haired

Hearing her songs fade away

in the winter ice

But waiting,

For that silver coin in her pocket

To bloom like the flower moon.

Lingering in the darkness, dreaming

Of that boy, sweet eyed and

dark humored

Bringer of warmth (all ways)

And he shines in the night

Like the coin in her pocket.

As he comes

With a pocketful of hope

as green as the verdant roots,

That during spring nights flourish.

Unexpectedly.

For not all things grow by day.

It is their time.

Like the silvery bloom that has ripened

Through the window

Finally in fullness glowing.

Spring

There is still

a chill

but

I lift my face

eyes closed

basking

in the vibrant

rays of

early spring

sunlight

and I am filled

with warmth

as the joy

of new life

spreads

through me.

I breathe

deeply

and the delicate

scent of

pink and purple

hyacinths

that boldly brave

the still cool air

tickles my nose

and I know

that spring

is here.

an itch

it was a good day to fall in love with you

your touch felt kinder than ever

our hearts knew no bounds

we were children

playing in the park watching a butterfly

i let a catepillar crawl across my finger

collecting snails in the grass with you

i made a wish upon a flower

just in case

wishes i don't have to make

for a top our blanket of clouds a fairytale stirs

a bronze coin worth a thousand words

only the rain catches

how we react

together we mix

with

endless possiblities

brew me up

taste me

let me breathe your air

save me a place up there

message recieved

i respond well to heat

i'm a desert child

grown from trees

Spring

Kids run out the doors for joy.

As for the sunlight has come.

The Days of sorrowful winter has passed.

The sweet scents of spring reaches my attention.

I touch the soft pink bloomers.

The sunlight hits my skin.

Spring has come.

Linger

the herbaceous vibrant winds

captivate a sensual longing

for those winds

have brought

your scent to me

I close my eyes

and lick my lips

slowly

I taste you

earthy, with a twist

of citrus and peppermint

the rising winds clench

as the longing intensifies

the sunlight cascades

shadows magnify

I see you

your liquid eyes

drink me in,

as your breath tingles upon my neck

the place in which only you

know about

wandering hands caress

as lustful teeth brush

my pink flesh

desire overpowers delicate

whispered words echo

burning fibers

setting the heart ablaze

alluring words of intent,

lasciviousness, and

dominance

so much power is held within

the tongue

controlling mind, body

and soul

all portions

in which only you

linger
