Mulched

hidden life renewed

damp-down holding growth below

gray to golden hue of green

life awakening

Equinox

White

will recede and

melt back to the Earth

like a bad memory.

Green

will expand upon the land

while we rejoice

in rebirth.

Chameleon

Engorged chameleon lizard -

oh flip on your belly,

pop out your gizzard,

camouflaged by green bloom,

nibbling flower

fallen from bough

of naked wood budding.

Bee tango leaving

yellow pollen trail,

ballad of red robin

bouncing along.

Rabbit doing bunny hop

tap-tap, tap-tap, forward, back, hop hop, hop

color erupting

variegation of world,

golden petal

opening wide,

air gorged

with fragrance.

Flirt of new life

filled with innocence.

Bright emerald gown,

purification of humid rain.

Fledgling deer dance

with merry feet

tap-tap, tap-tap, forward, back, hop, hop, hop

drone of honeybee

on fruited tree.

heather purple

upon the hill.

Craned neck

of reaching buttercup

reflecting youth.

Flight of the butterfly

rebirth of healing earth

waltz of life

tap-tap, tap-tap, forward, back, hop, hop, hop.

Spring has sprung!

Winter now gone

Cotton white cloud floating in the blue

Green field and red poppy

Yellow daffodil and blue bell

Warm night and an even warmer heart

I hear the cricket and frog at night

High in hymn and happy

Time to lie in bed with no blanket

Hearing mother nature perform her lullaby

Draping Gold

tall flower forming

growing

live and waking

in the verdant valley

draping gold yellow and green

a pink now

a white there

along the way path

Joy

Warmth from the light up above

Cold drifting away

A flower will awaken

Put joy on your face

Children laughing and playing

Every day

The time nice and relaxing

If only it were eternity

It would be perfection

A wonderful delight

Vernal Change

Oh Robin, great with egg!

Gather twig, mold your hollow,

Tell me of a warm tomorrow.

Oh Tulip, hint of green!

Grow up tall, reach for the light,

Cheer my heart with color bright.

Thaw

March the unrequited in from the cold

to where they can attempt to grow,

although firmly throttled by a firm hold.

A greener fool banded around a pinky

among what remained of an earlier meal.

Dancing to the rhythm of the tapping finger.

May there be protection from the imminent

for any keen on refuge from the foolhardy orbit.

The calm eye awaited any other,

a light bath for a June bug.

Lighting the way for life to bloom,

along a path where vibrant colour can bleed from muted grey.

Winter melted away to feed what it left eagerly deprived

under the unforgiving weight of a heavy cover.

Bienvenido el Verano

I live through the winter

Hungry

Bone-chilling cold

Killing tree and flower alike

Making the earth hard

And impenetrable

Except for a very few

I wait longingly

For the change

Too long in coming

Where I can feed on warmth

And gentle rain

Watching life re-emerge

Ready to begin

A new cycle of life

Only then

In bright light

And long days

Do I, too, awake

And begin to feel alive

Once more
