Challenge Ended
Listen to a song, any song, one you've heard a million times or one you are hearing for the first time. Now make me feel what you felt. Show me what images it stirs up in your mind. Use the song title as the title of your piece.

Car Radio

Silence makes you think

Thinking can lead you

Down dark paths you

Don't want to navigate

Sounds of any sort

Can distract from the

Pain and depression

Of emotional scars

Scars to your beautiful.

You're more than a face and bass,

More than a basic human database.

Long ways from being a disgrace,

You're beautiful in every way.

Don't lay prey to those who portray foul play.

I know it's hard,

When they bombard,

Pointing fingers and calling you lard.

They scarred you, marred you,

Sharded, you felt discarded.

But don't you dare believe them,

You truly are a gem.

Don't let them condem,

Please stop this mayhem.

You're beautiful in every way,

Every day you display that of a Queen bee,

So ignore them, and listen to what I say.

You are creativity, vitality, virtuosity.

Sublimly, entirely,

You are extraordinary.

New Romantics

While the others dance, we swim.

Holding on to each other like children in the water, we'll float through the crowd

of sweaty, anxious bodies.

A wandering mass of strangers who

work together,

live together,

_____ together,

(fill in the ugly space)

saying they know each other,

moving through life carelessly,

(they'll kill us out of ignorance)

identifying instead of being.

Bring me back to Camelot,

and we'll pretend they didn't hate us then.

Or take me to the future

and pretend they won't do the same.

Baby, we're the new romantics

and we armor ourselves in fantasy.
