Innocence Lost

Champagne footprints of the moon

echoed on the wandering stream.

Loss of innocence reflects my shadow,

vacant face of violator flows forever.

Wounded soul sieves through memory

liquefied moment he stole my spirit

leaving bittersweet drops of strength

fleeting mirror of what I could have been.

my greatest loss

the beliefs that were threaded into my grandmother's clothes,

were with her like the stained purple paint on her fingers,

clung to her like the cigarette smoke exhaled from my grandfather's dying mouth-

my greatest loss is not truly knowing the beliefs she had while alive.

dig deeper, you’ll find it- right next to my dwindling aspirations for living

Letting her go when I knew I should have fought for her because she was worth more than just my passivity.

5.14.16

I wore your clothes

I walked your swagger

I spoke your tongue

And smoked your cancer.

I lost my friend

I lost my lover

I lost my daughters dad

When you went six feet under.

My greatest lost was not yourself;

But me as a person.

The Day My Best Friend Died

The day my best friend died will forever haunt me. The pain still trips me up and surprises me with its ferocity. Yet, somehow, I found who I was within this pain. It stripped me down and built me up, and taught me to believe in my own strength.

My Greatest Loss

A child's mind

Easily exploited

Rewritten memories

Forgotten truths

Mother's love

Unwanted & rejected

Father's command

Emulated & admired

Mother escaped

Freedom hardwon

A tyrant vows revenge

Cruelest torture

She'll regret, she'll beg

When her children

Become vessels of hate

Liberation purchased

At unimaginable cost

Was it worth it?

She's broken & alone

My biggest mistake, I will never know.

A friend? A foe?

An experience I will never know.

A day I will never have.

A memory we will never share.

My greatest loss is out there.

Man or Beast? Good or Bad?

Would you be the best I never had?

All because I chose fear instead of

You.

go now

A path I was set to walk.

Until I turned away.

The call of a waterfall in the distance.

Forests all around.

Too young and stupid and week to fight it.

I step off my unpaved road

and venture to the unknown's call.

Lost in an other world.

My greatest loss was myself.

And ohhh how i mourn.

Dear Flower

She was the one that i shared my heart with.

She who had a gentle, crumbling heart was told of love

She was scared of this new feeling

Out of fright her life had became one in the deep cold ground.

She wanted love but didn't know how to accept it.. I lost her

Dad’s gone

My dad breathed his last in the dead heat of a humid summer night.

After years of fighting for every day to see me grow it ended on a makeshift hospital bed.

I lay here on the floor while summer speeds toward me bringing memories I am not prepared for.
