an honest lie

have you ever felt fire?

the wood of your soul

organic and thriving

kindling for the flame

that the spark of his skin

ignited?

not everything is moonshine

some a drenched in the fire

of whisky at their first breath

the unwatered are wilting

we cannot survive on carbonation

curdled blood and lavender palms

we forget the way their fists

brought us to God and remember

only the sweet scent of death

beneath our nostrils like

smelling salts

the jolt of cold in February

all else is warm but if you

know the way fire felt

you'll never know heat

again

a double edged sword

she had asked him to come with her. that's it. just three simple words. "come with me." her voice still ringing across his mind. speaking tales of gods and bloodshed; of forbidden love and happily ever afters. all she wanted was his hand to hold and his life as her own. to lie together and sleep forever in each other's arms. it wasn't so much thinking back on it: to live with her for the rest of their short years together. still in their youth and in control of how the end could come. it was almost too good. too easy. he could have swept her away, away from her fears and the danger she dreaded with each passing day, but instead he brought her despair. the tears she cried the night he refused her proposal to be free with one another was the night her life was torn apart forever. he watched as the one he called forever ended their illusion of love.

he had always seen her as special. he already had all the planets and stars, and everything in between at his feet, but she gave him something different. something he never knew he was missing: the moon. he had always hated the moon; standing alone, even with the light of a million stars at its side. the fact it needed the sun's light to make it into something had always repulsed him, but she changed that. she made him see the moon as strong and courageous. like a brave knight battling the darkness. she'd tell him that no one could fight off the night by themselves. that the sun offered to help the moon with its battles because no one deserves to fight alone.

now his missed her more than ever. his grief tying a noose around his neck and willing him to give into death's cold yet inviting grip. to wilt as the most beautiful flowers do, as mary-lee, his love now and for the rest of his days, did. to lay down in a an untamed field of lavender and wildflowers. to lay as the febuary sun heats your cheeks and the wind blows away any sudden doubts you may have had before. perhaps she wasn't so wrong. maybe to lie down as birds whisper tragic tales of endless sleep and lovers united until the cold is numbing and waking up is harder than the thought of peace forever, wasn't so bad.

almost ghostlike, he made his way to his young wife's grave. thoughts of seeing her pale green eyes once again filled him with more joy than he has felt since her absence. and there he slept; with the smell of lavender lulling him into a sleep that will bring him to mary-lee's arms for the rest of eternity.

Like Romeo and Juliet

He is my moon

Controlling the ebb and flow of my heart

He is my sun

Warming me even during the coldest parts of February

He is my life's blood

Revitalizing and rejuvenating with a mere touch

He is my lavender tonic

Soothing frayed nerves and panicked breath

He is my water

Restoring vibrancy to my wilted soul

He is my love

But God took him into his embrace

He is my death

For surely I shall follow him shortly

I can see the Galaxy

In a midnight pond

And a world

On the dark side of the moon

I can see the land

Beyond the looking glass

And the smile in twinkling eyes

I cans see the truth

And yet

I am afraid

Of lies

Invocation of the Master

In the Darkness burns the Brightest Sun,

The middle of February has just begun,

I call upon the God of Life and Ages,

The Master of Death and Sages:

Come unto me, this I command.

I call upon the power of the Seas and Land,

The Four Elements wilt combine

To sway to the will that is mine:

Bring unto me this Lord of Time,

I call down the lavender Moon into my sublime:

Aphrodite, Venus, Ishtar, and Ashtart,

Aradia, Arianrhod, Artemis, and Artio.

Astarte, Aurora, Bast, and Brigid.

Cerridwen, Demeter, Diana, and Dryads.

Epona, Eos, Fortuna, Flora, and Freya.

Hathor, Hecate, Hera, Hestia, and Inanna.

Vesta, Lilith, Maat, Morrigan and The Muses.

Nephtys, the Norns, Nuit, Persephone, and Selene.

I call unto thee, Isis.

I call unto the goddesses all: possess me!

I call down the Sun into my sublime:

Amon Re, Adonis, Anubis, Apollo and Cernunnos.

Dionysus, Dagda, Eros, Horus, and Hymen.

Strega, Odin, Zeus, Pan, and Poseidon.

Ptah, Thor, and Thoth.

I call unto thee, Osiris.

I call unto the gods all: possess me.

By my blood, and by my ken,

I invoke thee!"

Isolation

The moon danced making lavender patterns across the wall

The wilted flowers sat in your shadow as you say without saying a word

Silence.

It was February now but for some reason you still had trouble grasping the fact that I love you.

The words felt like blood seeping onto your skin

Tying you down

Killing you in an empty grave

But, alas, I am not God and my words do not hold enough strength for you to die

But your empty eyes stare right through me and, sure enough, have the power to make my nervous system stop responding to every single part in my body

On this day if hearts

On the month of hearts, February

The full moon is shinning bright with the scent of lavender lingering in the air. A day that is said to be romantic and joyous has been forsaken by god, our lord, the one who should love us most. Flowers with the scent of lavender is slowly wilting as the scent of blood filled the gresh night air. Death has spread throughout the land, love has gone from the hearts of everyone, they are all filled with hate. In this fateful February night with the moon up so high, God has forsaken us and war has taken place.
