we say we'll hold on
words are like that
past tense
and released
like darts
like doves
into the blue
the green
canopy
of intricate meaning
that like a fallen branch
turns olive
in the Sinai
and then tans
the surface
of the
bone

To everything there is a season challenge @dctezcan
there it is
that twinge of cold
slight chill at night
pumpkins manifest
jolly white lighted
holidays soon whiz
just another breeze
then comes unrelenting winter
life curls up protectively brown
holding on to whatever life left
will my roots die
the coming freeze
too nakedly frail
to unfold
