Today is Ask an Atheist Day. I'm an atheist. Ask away.
Round Two of Ask an Atheist Day. This is an opportunity for secular groups across the country to work together to defeat stereotypes about atheism and encourage courteous dialogue between believers and nonbelievers alike. Seeing how well and how positive it went last year I'm willing to start the challenge up again. If you got questions fill free to ask me and my fellow atheists on Prose anything and we'll be more than happy to answer and have a conversation. Just remember to be respectful to everyone (both believers and nonbelievers alike).

Questions:

(Q1). I typically find it fascinating learning exactly when and where a former believer turned to atheism. What happened that led you to the decision? Preferably not the stereotypical answer of "if you look at the proof"....that's completely objective. I realize the question can be extremely personal, which, you have the ultimate say on if you answer or not.

(Q2). Naturally, you identify holes within a specific belief system. Which one(s) do you find commonly with believers?

(Q3). Have you at times questioned atheism?

(Q4). What stereotypes about atheism do you dislike the most and why?

(Q5). Are there any ways your beliefs differ from other atheists?

What do you wake up for?

I guess the one question I hear most often for athiests is how they find meaning in the universe, if there's no great god or plan for us all? What keeps an atheist going, in times of darkness or struggle? If there's no afterlife, then what's the point of living?

(Not meaning to sound defeatist, just trying to illustrate what I'm going for with this line of questioning)
