she was a generous soul;

never hesitant to give all she could

to help another.

and when she found herself

with nothing left, at all,

with a smile,

she would think to herself,

  "how lucky am i,

  to be living

  the simplest

  of all simple lives."

if only he knew

if only he knew

how her voice yearned to

sing his name once more.

how her ears yearned to

hear his voice once more,

if only he knew

she loved him still.

yet even the deepest love

could not mend the truth;

they were meant to fall apart.

if only he knew

that when she lost him,

she lost a piece of herself,

and piece by piece, she continued

to lose sight of who she was.

if only he knew

that she would give anything

to turn back time,

to make things right,

to give their love another try.

if only he knew.

distort

as she gazed into the mirror,

the face that stared back

  was

but a reflection

of the person

  they wished her to be.
