Why is growth addictive?

we always seem to find a way

to ensure we are 

never lead astray.

It is as if we can not stand to be

any less than what we define

as the best.

Money now defines us

do we work to live

or live to work?

The days we have seem to drag

the time slipping from our sweaty grip. 

There was a time money was just a thing.

something that could be dismissed,

but here before you

is it not true to say

many people will die

Never really living at all.
