I turned towards my friend. This old place always had some noise echoing through its walls. "I think it was just a mouse. There's nobody else here, Kat. There never has been."
Kat shifted nervously. "I-" A loud clanging noise came from the other room. We froze. Sammy, always the level-headed one of our group, called out. "We know you're in there! Come out, wherever you are!"
"Sam, I don't think that's such a good ide-" I felt my body stiffen, moments before I registered the pain. Power surged through me, touching every nerve and vein. It ended just as suddenly as it began, leaving me heaving on the floor.
"Willow!" I heard my friends call out for me, but I couldn't move, my vision was fuzzy. I felt myself being lifted. Sam and Kat dragged me into our safe room, and I blacked out.
