Begging For A Rope

Loneliness surrounds me,

Bringing me down.

Right now all I see,

Is me in this town.

And as I look around,

I feel I could drown,

In this sea of emptiness,

That seems so profound.

And I’m begging for a rope,

To pull me out.

A small gleaming ray of hope,

And no sense of doubt.

To know that I can touch the

shore,

Without being dragged down,

Back to that lonely town.

Can no one see that,

I’m struggling so hard,

To cross those few feet,

That stretch like a yard.

So can someone please

tell me,

How to get myself back,

To where things are good

and happy,

And not just so black.

And I’m begging for a rope,

To pull me out.

A small gleaming ray of hope,

And no sense of doubt.

To know that I can touch the

shore,

Without being dragged down,

Back to that lonely town.

Rays

A glimpse out the window

And I understand the meaning

Of the phrase

A ray of hope.

The gentle rays of the sun

Spreading out from behind

The cover of a big fluffy cloud

Indeed makes one feel hopeful.

Thoughts of better days

And awe at the simple beauty of nature

Are hard to hold back

When you see that cloud with its halo.

It is hard to capture the beauty and emotion

That this somewhat everyday occurrence

So easily holds in its presence

While illuminating the skies.

It quickly reduces the irritation

Of the wait in traffic

And transports one to a place

Of dreams and hope.

The artists and photographers

Try as they might

Cannot replicate these daily masterpieces

That Mother Nature displays to us.

And so what better mode

For hope to be delivered

Than the rays of a mellow sun

As it rises or sets.

Hello all you gifted word ninjas! Lets take a moment to honor an artist from the past. Take your favorite piece from any artist who is no longer among us, something perhaps that was significant in your life. Could be a poet, songwriter, something amazing! Be sure to state The writer, musician etc. I'm looking forward to reading some art that meant something to my fellow Prosers :) Have a great day...Deadman out

Little Black Sandals

I'm being dragged down, down by the hand

The hand of a golden giant man

He's crushing my knuckles

Splitting my skin, he says he'll let go

If only I'd ask it of him

He says

Girl, it's your call

You wanna fly

You wanna fall

So I shout

I wanna get away from you

As fast as I can

I tell my feet to move it

I hope they have a plan

These little black sandals

Are walking me away

These little black sandals

Are heading the right way

These little black sandals

Are walking me away

These little black sandals

Saved my life today

So now I'm free

Free

From the big bad giant

Who was stalking me

Thank you feet, for guiding me

I'm glad somehow I got brains down there, at least

These little black sandals

Are walking me away

These little black sandals

Are heading the right way

These little black sandals

Are walking me away

These little black sandals

Saved my life today

Sometimes I'm tempted

Sometimes I am

I would be lying if I said I didn't miss that giant man

He was the line between pleasure and pain

But me and the feet have some years to reclaim

These little black sandals

Are walking me away

These little black sandals

Are heading the right way

These little black sandals

Are walking me away

These little black sandals

Saved my life today

Talk To You

Talk to you.

The past few days,

I’ve found myself wishing,

That I could do just that.

Not that we don’t talk,

Of course we do.

We’ll always be part,

Of each other’s lives.

I mean talk about everything,

Not just the things that,

We’ve always discussed but,

Those that lay under the surface.

It’s not the most important,

But it is part of my life,

And so it is also,

Part of yours.

But I don’t want,

To hurt you.

You’re more important,

Than all that I will ever know.

And you find it hard,

To deal with something,

That you never expected,

You would have to.

So we shy away from it.

Afraid it will shatter,

The relationship that,

We have finally pieced back together.

Time might help,

But I don’t know how much.

I feel like you’re seeing only one face,

Of the moon that is my life.

But I resign myself,

To wait for when it will change,

Forever hoping that it will,

Because thinking it won’t is too painful.

I think now and then,

That it would be so easy,

If any of this,

Was actually a choice.

And as I go to sleep,

Still a little sad,

I dream of a time when I can finally,

Talk to you.

Strength

What is your strength?

Such a profound question.

It comes in so many forms,

But do we have even the essence?

Strength cannot be learnt from others,

You can admire it in them,

But through experience and adversity,

You must teach yourself.

Sometimes you have to lean on others,

And that is not weakness,

As long as you don’t keep leaning,

Till you need crutches.

We learn to believe in a lot of things,

But the most powerful faith,

That we cannot be taught,

Is faith in ourselves.

When you’re emotionally strong,

You will never be hateful or violent.

You are not at conflict with yourself,

So why resort to it with others.

Sometimes it is hard to find strength,

When the pain is deep or for your own.

But in that moment if you can find it,

It will be a strength unknown.

Masks

Seamlessly we put them on,

          To cover what we feel,

               Are our imperfections.

     With almost no thought,

 We shift between them,

To accommodate the expectations of others.

Do we forget which mask to put on,

Or forget that we have one on at all,

That is something to think about.

Is it that important to cater,

To what society prescribes,

And the norms that are blindly followed.

One day when we love ourselves,

As much as we want the world to love us,

Is when we will get rid of the masks.

We will pitch them aside,

Proud with who we are and not,

Who we are supposed to be.

That is the day we will truly be internally happy and free,

Being who we are not worrying who we were meant to be.
