Pretentious

everyone who writes is so pretentious

I hate it

but I guess I wouldn't be here

if I didnt want to be honest

because I'm pretentious too.

writers are so annoying.

not to be rude

but holy fuck

why don't we ever shut up?

I've never met another writer that I actually liked.

maybe thats because

we all think

that we are perfect and unique

and cannot be duplicated.

writers are egotistical

but the best writers

are barely self aware

I think.

Or maybe

just so insane

we can't even tell

how self obsessed they are.

Challenge
Write a short love poem. The catch is that the first sentence must have seven words, and the following sentences should countdown until you have only one word for the last sentence. Basically 7 words, then 6, then 5, etc.
Love comes in numbers.

Loved Her More

She loved you better than I could,

but that doesnt mean I don't

It just means I want

everything I can't have,

things that are

just like

you.

Those Faithful Waves

I’ve begun to notice,

The way that you treat me.

As if I am an unconditional,

And increasingly vast,

Ocean of love.

An undrainable source,

That will always,

Continue to lap at your shore.

Like a dog,

Who loves the hand that strikes.

For no matter how you may,

Hit those waves,

They will only momentarily roll out,

Before calmly, quietly sliding back to your feet.

But unlike those faithful waves,

Now I will draw back.

As I should have drawn back,

Many strikes ago.

And unlike those faithful waves,

I will learn.

And eventually, unlike those faithful waves,

I will not return.
