Scared

I know you're scared

Take a walk with me

We're ill-prepared

But let's wait and see

Our shadows will always be there

When the light is shining bright

I know we have our demons

But we can do this right

Will the path lead to nowhere

Will we tangle, hearts and all?

Will we fade out slow and sadly

I want to know it all

Will we ignite what's deep within us

Will we learn to love with ease

Will we wake up in the morning

Without questions, without maladies?

Let me love you

You don't have to hide

If we are moving forward

I'll be here for the ride.

Seedling

I don't want to want

I don't want to need

I am but a seed to sprout

Water in a downspout

A dirty, soil covered world

Upon which I dig my roots

With the hope I will want to grow

To unravel and see

That the very world

that seemed so dirty

Is a place I want and need to be.

Challenge
Let's spread some hopeful words around here. Write an inspiring and hopeful poem. It doesn't have to start bright and cheery, but the end should have light and hopeful tones.

Escape

We all would like to fly away

Like mourning doves on gloomy days

We get in planes

To chase our dreams

Our only means

Of flight it seems

But what is flying

What is flight

It can be love that makes us light

It can be hope or courage or might

It can be simply freeing your mind

So when you think you cannot fly

Think again and you can try

To keep your head and heart up high

And never let your passion die

Challenge
Write a letter to someone who has wronged you. Putting your words in ink and out in the universe can be a good step toward healing, and can often help sort out the turmoil inside. (My inspiration was that my car was broken into this weekend, and I managed to get my feelings out in a Social Media post, which I will also turn into a letter and post for this challenge.)

The Ex

How dare you

Crawl back into her life

Like a feral cat

On a stoop

Broken and dirty

Yet irresistible.

The thought has turned to ash in my mouth

I spit these words

Tears and ash make ink

Upon which I write words

you will never see.

How dare you

Have more of a hold on her heart

Than my hands did around her body

I'm grasping at air now

Fighting to breathe.

How dare you

Make me worry about her

When thoughts meet fears

The semblance of understanding

Stifles the desire

The feeling more fleeting

Than our short affair

I dare you

To treat her with respect

To love her like I would have

If given the chance.

And when you break her

I will accept her

Crawling back into my life

Like a feral cat

Broken and dirty

Yet irresistible.

Her

She's with me in the crisp linens

In the smell of my hair

She's just behind my shoulder

In the wisp of rousing air

She's in the drops of pouring rain

In all the wetness around me

She's in my toes and fingertips

In every pounding heartbeat

She's with me in the morning light

In the sound of feline paws

She's in the feathers that grace skin

In all the beloved flaws

She's in a spot that can't be itched

In hope and thought and air

She's in comfort,smiles and memories

She will forever reside there

Lets shed some reality on mental illness. It's not cute, it's not a joke and it's not an excuse: Write about a panic or anxiety attack. I'd love to see poetry, short stories and glimpses into who you are.

The Vault

As I sit with my thoughts

The pot boils over

Scalding my mind with anxiety

The thoughts are hot, piercing daggers

That move from my head to my heart

From my heart to my limbs

Crucifying me where I sit

Unable to move

Frozen in this numbing pain

It's been so long

I cannot move

The weight on my shoulders

As heavy as my heart

I finally rise

Feeling alive

Now I walk with my thoughts

Hot, piercing daggers in my mind.
