You come to me unbidden, unexpected, unwanted when I cannot give myself to you with abandon; you interrupt my thoughts and conversations. I find myself chasing you into the night, wanting so badly for you to envelop and overpower me; yet you elude me time and again, leaving me restless, wakeful, frustrated, spent and unable to find the comfort of your embrace.  I feel you at my back, taunting me with your promises of peace and solitude, even as you remain just out of reach until the moments before sunrise when, exhausted from the chase, I sleep at last.
