I want to...

So I want to

I want to get to know you

Slightly better than I do now

I want to laugh harder than I already have

With you of course

I want to enjoy more playful sarcasm

And continue to dial your number

Whenever you dance through my mind

I want to examine your fingers

See how mine fit into them

And perhaps hold your hand

In places hidden from adult prying eyes

I want to walk aimlessly together

Eliminate our awkwardness

And enjoy our time together

But maybe I also want to

Be in close proximity with you

I want to lean into you

Grant you permission to

Satisfy your curiosity about my lips

I want to let my guard down

Prepare a mushroom free meal for you

Get lost in the latest tv series with you

Trade my coffee for lemon infused water

I just simply

Want you...

Conformists

In a sea of conformists

Dare to swim against the tide

Beginnings

They say it's a hobby

Poetry is a pass time

It's not even art

Or genuine writing

It's just a few sentences strung together

It requires minimal thinking

Minuscule effort

So in essence poetry is fickle

Does not require much

Does not pay

One cannot use it as a means of income

It cannot sustain me

Or you

Or anybody for that matter

What they neglect to mention

Is that poetry is who I am

It is my reason for being

My smile

My sorrow

My comfort

Poetry is my being

The Error in loving too much

I've been told a thousand times before never to give my heart up to easily, I've even been advices to guard it fiercely. But the hopeless romantic in me refuses to listen and that how I ended up giving to a man who shattered it into a million pieces.
