Bloom in the Winter

There was a sharp knock at the door. I woke up startled. The sun was already in through the chinks in the window. I took on my spectacles and rushed to open the door. It was my sister with a cup of tea. She told me to go out into the fields for fresh air. I was not interested as I had lost my family in a road accident a year ago. Yet she forced and insisted that I leave the damp place at least once.

As I moved out, the dazzle of the sun hit my eyes sharply. It looked a whole new world around and that too, in the winter. I slowly walked downhill and into the fields where the wheat seeds had come out with green sprouts braving the cold wind. On the slopes I saw tiny wild flowers blooming youthfully. They were brighter than the daisies of the Spring. I was surprised to see their willingness to live and stay young even if the bad weather stood around to kill them. I realized that life is all about moving on.

I was thrilled to experience the glorious play of life. The winter flowers rushed through my veins like new blood.

I'm an old, retired teacher. Today, I work voluntarily to inspire people in the locality and try my best to guide others in the village.
