Old Dry Bones

In the Book of Truth

it was written, oh so long ago;

Of the broken and meek;

that from hunger and thirst, righteousness shall flow.

The poor lowly spirits sunken into the earth

rapt in worms below.

They feed you handfuls of ash of dirt

while they stuff in the last of the season's sweet potato.

They say, "Can I borrow a rib?"

But they don't have ears to hear your, "NO!"

So they steal and they sew, and they steal and they sew

until you're a clanking pile of old dry bones.

In the mist of the morning they rise from the earth

to massage their tummies with dew.

But little do they know, oh little do they know...

who waits for them to show;

NONE BUT THE BIG BLACK CROW.

Thereafter a thundering voice came

that shook your pile of bones,

and they tumbled down with a clinkity-clank

like the ancient walls of Jericho.

The Thunder exhaled a wild wind

that swept up the dry, dry bones.

To and fro and to and fro

you danced to life on your tippy toes,

the very tip of your toes.

"O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord...I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live...flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”

To Where the Spirit Dwells

In all humility, for my God and Savior

I fall to my knees and weep.

My spirit yearns for what is pure, my heart longs for endless love,

my eyes drift to what is beautiful, and my mind forgets all that is not.

I rest my body on grass and dirt, and sink into the sodden earth.

Loose me in the forest, forget my dwelling there,

you may find me in the heavens

in much,

much,

 later years...

THEE

"Where have you been?" Asks the foreign one.

*Silence*

"There are scales in your eyes.  Do they not cause you much pain and grief?"

"They do," said the gentile.

"Would you have me take a look?"

"Many have done so and know no cure.  I am tired, let me sleep."

"It is only noon-day."

"Yes, but it is always night-tide for me.  I see not, yet can feel the shades of gloom."

"You have never known light?"

"No."

"Verily I say to you, I AM THEE."

And a good wind came rushing by.

"...May I?"

"Stand up and spit out that dirt."

*Pfffttt*  "...Hold me..."

And the scales fell from his eyes like lead feathers.

"You are no longer a slave to the evil one."

To Conquer

It is said,

"...Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..."

Know the un-known...know it like it knows each being.

Turn from evil, yet spare it the other cheek.

That is wise.

When the Most High calls your name,

RISE!

"Do not be conformed to this world..."

of chaos.

Reverence

"Woe is me !"

Why so rueful?

"I fell in love with a boy of Christ."

Why?

"Tender are his lips and balmy are his eyes, all the while he speaks in heavenly tongue to my heart."

Oh, I see.

"He is kind."

...Why do you weep?

"In truth he says his love for the father will be eternally greater than his for me."

He is full of faith.

"I too...but it still hurts."

Chamomile King

The splendor of my Chamomile king!

"How lovely is he!"

It is like a walk through the garden when the sun shows it's golden rays,

that lift the perfumed dew drops into the air around my head.

The sweet fragrant flowers turn their heads to look at me.

They tilt and smile.

"Oh, it is bright on my palate!  Clean on my tongue!"

It's color reflects Mr. Golden Sun.

He adorns my cup with milk and honey.

"How precious is he!"

My Chamomile king!

...Alone

My belly is empty, I think it has been days.

Mom and dad said, "no."

...Though their long eyes pleaded a simple ok.

I told my manager that I will be quitting,

he gave me two weeks.

I lied and said I found a job closer to home.

My boyfriend told me that home was with him, the love we shared,

and then he went and shared that with a fat girl.

I'm tired.

I use to laugh.  At everything, just because,

It made the ugly events of life seem less important.

Now I don't, I can't remember how.

I tried when I last looked in the mirror, to lift the corners of my mouth.

But i'm certain using your hands is cheating.

I don't like to look down anymore.  I will see my feet, my belly, my chest and arms.

They all look funny.

My toes are too long, my belly's too soft, my chest is too small and my arms are hairy.

I think this is loneliness.

All the romantic dramas make it out to be the bottom line,

but it's ok.

I'm ok...I think.
