The day I will always remember…

It was that very day I realized

I never asked you for anything 

Not even for you to give me the world nor bring me the stars and moon

All I ever wanted was

To mean the world to you, be gazed at and admired like those beautiful stars in the sky, and be your source of light during your time of darkness like the moonlight in the night sky

When I said "I love you"

I loved you 

Selflessly 

And though the selfish part of me wanted you to always be mines

Love is not selfish 

So I knew I was suppose to give love selflessly 

I surrender my all to you but it wasn't enough 

So I had to do it

The thoughts of it alone was heart wrenching 

It was the hardest thing I had to do

But it was the most selfless act of true love I could do

I had to let us go

All the thoughts of good times and all the dreams of our future 

I had to let you go

Free from this...

For my happiness stems from knowing that you are happy even if it was I who had to fade out of the picture 

Heartbroken I was

...BUT... I still love you...selflessly

I once drowned... I remember...

Submerged in my own pool of pain and tears of sorrow

I thought it was the end for me; I was destiny to die from asphyxiation of it all

For I could not swim nor seem to stay afloat...

Someone reached out for me

Pulled me out and begin resuscitation; every breath given was breathing new life into me

That very moment I remember seeing the light...

For the pain I've endured was fertilizer for my growth

And those tears I once cried was only meant to water my soul

   Depression 

      Isolation

Frustration 

   Deception 

      Manipulation

Rejection...

Here I stand

Giving my mind, heart, and soul

26 years of experience

Love pain hurt and happiness

Came and went

Storms I had to over come

Mountains I had to climb

Train moving forward no time to look back

Stars I’m trying to reach

Quivered along the raging sea

Waiting for someone to pull me to shore

Love I have given with nothing in return

Here I stand

Day by day

Stronger and stronger

I become more enrapt about my destiny

My inner realizable purpose of life

With no one to reach for in the light when I’m in the darkness

I understand

It’s me

It’s me who I should turn to

When I see the light in the darkness

I should push forward to break through into the light

So here I stand

Giving all of me

Nothing to hide

For everyone to see

Here I stand.
