The talking river. 2.

”A thousand years I’ve run this course

from those high hills to that blue sea

and in the passing I have seen

as many sad as happy things.

Sweet children have immersed in me,

as have men of religious bent;

and cows have drunk and birds have fed

on fish and insects from my depths.

Small skirmishes and deaths I’ve seen

as hatreds filled me with red blood.

Too, skiffs have carried lovers down

the wider, lower stretch of me.

The wine of life I’ve happily

supplied to those who supped of me

and in those fields about my banks

I’ve helped to grow the food you eat.

I took no sides in your disputes,

your hating, your intolerance.

I never joined the killing times

that I so often saw occur.

I willingly gave what I had,

sustaining life in plant and Man.

Nor did I judge the rights, the wrongs

consuming ever-selfish souls.

I have no great philosophy

except just to ‘go with the FLOW’”.

I stood up and I walked away

and wondered if I dreamed it all.

How could a river talk to me?

It matters not....I know not how.

all gone ~~~~~~whoosh~~~~~~~~~

Rumi

So many things he said, an endless source of wonder and wisdom and love. A favorite Rumi piece for me from “Looking for your face” is:

Today I have seen

the charm, the beauty,

the unfathomable grace

of the face

that I was looking for..

..words for young lovers and old dreamers.

TheTalking river. 1.

As I sat on the grass in thought

today a river spoke to me.

Its muddy banks were wet and warm;

it trilled and truckled in its bed,

subservient passing by my place

without a word of happiness

to tell me of it’s flowing life.

(’ll be back...)

SWONBOGGLE

won tu, shuckle my boo

tree thor, wood god of war

hive tricks, pick up bees wix

heaven wait, a bread he ate

wine, zen, remember, Ben?

rhyme forms no recompense to verses without sense...

I pondered on the wonders of the southern Kootenay shore,

the tall pines edging up the mountainside forever more..

Yet still my eyes could not ignore the mirror-imaged sky

That showed, in lake-blue glossy depths, a mirror eagle fly..

the leaf

the leaf is beautiful

the stars are cold

their majesty unfolds

much less than

one small leaf

that‘s

green

and

pliant

and

veined

and lies well in the hand

the stars hang there majestic cold

inMilky Way’s scarred hand
