Speechless.

I simply look at you

and hundreds of thoughts race in my head.

But when you say "What?",

my brain goes numb and words fall dead.

I'm truly not one to be speechless,

I promise talking is my norm.

But when you look at me like that,

I can't help but transform.

Is it your gentle touch,

or maybe your charming style?

Did I mention your sweet eyes,

or your ridiculously bright smile?

Yes, I am speechless around you,

I am under your enchating spell.

But I'll be fine without my words,

as long as your presence continues to dwell.

Stressed to Blessed.

Stressed.

Piles and piles of assignments.

Endless amounts of papers, tests, projects.

Paper mountains have formed on my desk,

and I'm searching for the strength to climb them.

Stressed.

A sprained ankle.

I limp to class.

An injury which came out of no where,

but has given me a foot the size of Alaska.

Stressed.

Deadlines, expectations, and standards.

Messes, cleanups, and spills.

Hopes, dreams, and fears.

How does one get through this obstacle we call life?

My answer is simple.

Sit back and breathe.

Exhale the doubt,

and inhale the clarity.

All will be okay.

The paper mountains will be climbed,

and the swelling will subside.

Meditate and find the peace.

Blessed.

Just Breathe.

The world is crumbling all around me

and what do I do?

Sit, watch, and breathe.

I listen to the deafening silence.

I see the glass shattering storms.

I smell the burning hopes and dreams.

But we have found the cure.

The cure to all of the world's troubles.

We need to sit back and gaze upon our present.

Inhale the future, and exhale the past.

Four Years.

Four years of us

and every day we grow.

This love is right,

this I know.

A Pisces and a Scorpio,

the connection incredibly strong.

And wrapped in your arms

is where I know I belong.

They want to know the secret,

how to make love last.

Well first things first,

start slow, not fast.

Be each other’s best friend,

joke, laugh, and sing.

But be there for the tears,

because life tends to sting.

Let each other grow,

But grow together, not apart.

There's no hidden secret,

love is simply an art.

Four years of us,

and true love is the core.

You make my days brighter

and each day I love you more.

Serious.

Why so serious?

Well let me tell you.

It's hard to smile when you've seen what i've seen.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

If you understood, you wouldn't be asking me why i'm serious.

You would be asking me how I still manage to live day by day.

Why so serious? No. Why so strong?

Judgment day.

Trial, quiver, woes tie lies.

Smile, shiver, close my eyes.

Try? Cry?

I await his fate.

At the alter

Sometimes I can't control the words that roll off my tongue. I didn't think it was a serious problem until my wedding. The priest asked if I'd take Jared to be my lawfully wedded husband and "I don't" slipped right out. I'd never seen so many jaws drop in unison.

Challenge

My Mud Monster

Every time I tell this story I get judged because I'm a grown man. But I promised you I'd tell it one last time, so please don't judge me. I was 6 years old in Ms. Todd's class and we were making mud pies on the playground. You know the type you made when you were little by mixing dirt, water, rocks, sticks, and leaves on a paper plate? Yeah, those. I had just finished showing my masterpiece to my crush, Lizzy, when Ms. Todd blew the deafening whistle to signal recess was over. Now for the record, I wouldn't say I was a "bad kid", I just didn't like to do what I was told sometimes. So while Lizzy and my other classmates dumped out their mud pies and ran into the school, I chose to hide inside the tube slide with my muddy creation. I waited quietly in my hiding spot until I couldn't hear footsteps anymore. All of a sudden I heard a deep voice say "Hey Adam, are we going to hide in here all day? I'm beginning to feel claustrophobic!". I looked down at the paper plate I was holding and where used to be a mound of mud with random sticks and leaves pointing out if it, was now a face. It had two rocks for eyes, a leaf for a nose, and layered sticks forming a mouth. This "mud" was talking to me, and I was frozen in fear. Before I could formulate a plan on what to do, the monster puffed out it's cheeks and spat a huge wad of dirt into my face. I screamed as I slid down the slide, threw the plate on the ground, and ran into the school. I cried to Ms. Todd, my friends, and my parents, but they all said it was my imagination. Now before you say it was all in my head, how would 6 year old me know what the word claustrophobic means? I had to look it up in my dictionary as soon as I got home! No one ever believed me...do you?

my oh pie.

I pass the pie shop window

and my mouth begins to water.

Cherry, blueberry, chocolate pudding,

all baked with a flaky crust.

I walk inside

and my stomach begins to rumble.

So many options

and I should only choose one.

If I get the banana cream slice,

at least i'll get some potassium.

If I get the pecan slice,

at least I'll get some protein.

Screw it,

"I'll take one of each type please".

Challenge
Write the most meaningful, emotional thing you can think of in 30 words.

His Undying Love

Everyday since that heartbreaking night in October

He brought his love tulips, her favorite.

He couldn't hold her hand anymore

But he could sense her presence and felt at home.
