In the middle of an island, there lived a girl.

Her name was Ananya. She was the village beauty, with her shiny, silky, black hair, dark forest-green eyes and smooth brown skin.

But she was also the village oddity. She had been sitting on a rock, reading a book, which is unusual for a teenage girl in this village.

A boy had been walking past the rock. He caught a glimpse of her at school and was immediately enamored.

He strutted up to Ananya with confidence.

“Hello. Ananya, right?” he asked quietly.

”Yes, I’m Ananya. What do you want?” she asked, annoyed at being interrupted during her reading.

“I just wanted someone to talk to.” he says, not hiding his interest.

“Find someone else,” she responded bluntly. “I’m not interested.”

Hansa was trembling. The creatures had found her. The door creaked and she hid in the closet.

“Come out, girl. I won’t hurt you.”, it croaked.

It was hideous. The creature looked like a cross between a chihuahua and a lobster.

“The girl isn’t there, look in another room!” yelled a red creature impatiently.

Hansa breathed a sigh of relief. It didn’t notice her.

“Phew, that was close.” she whispered.

She didn’t know why these creatures were looking for her. She liked to crochet, bake, and play piano. What was so bad about that?

Janani was bored. When was the stupid storm going to go away? She really wished she could use her phone and call her friends.

The oven wasn’t working, so she couldn’t bake anything. Her phone was dead and it couldn’t charge.

“Janani, come down! There’s work to do!” yelled mom.
