Mind not the eyes bound in rose colored glass

Nor the mouths that murmur pleasant nothings,

For they don't always see beyond their path.

Rather, bless all those caked in blood and mud

From fiercely fighting for their fellow man

Despite no link between the two of them.

With saddened, sunken eyes and crooked teeth,

They hide their scars and marred, disfigured flesh

For they walk the beaten, perilous path

And see far beyond the bright horizon

To shadowed parts, unknown to most, where they

Have been lost and lost the ones they once

Held near and dear beside their beating hearts.

They're not monsters, but angels in disguise.
