My Last Wish

my last wish as a little girl

was for my daddy not to be so mean

it didn’t work

and i still wish

i could protect that little girl

Growth

the world seems to shrink

as we grow

and isn’t that a sad thing

Bed

sometimes

the hardest thing to do

is getting out of bed

in the morning.

that is okay.

Rain

Rain is full of life.

Life to give and life to take.

Rain loves all and none.

Bleeding Heart

Hearts beat.

They beat for love,

They beat for revenge.

Hearts break.

They break for us,

They break for others.

Hearts bleed.

They bleed for loss,

They bleed for sacrifice.

Hearts are always full of fresh blood.

Challenge
Poetry or Prose, write something that includes this phrase: “She couldn’t close her eyes.” Any style or length. Tag me so I can read it. :)

Eyes

She couldn’t close her eyes.

They took that from her.

She couldn’t wake up.

It wasn’t a dream.

All she could do was keep watching,

Keep waiting for someone who could make her feel safe enough to close her eyes again.

She and I

She never thinks it’s enough.

Eat less.

Lose more.

I feel like it’s not enough.

Look prettier.

Be smarter.

She never wants to feel.

To feel vulnerable.

To feel exposed.

I feel like I can’t.

She always wants more from me.

Do this.

Be that.

I am starting to learn.

Be satisfied.

Say what you really feel.

She may never come to terms with who I am.

I may never be what she wants.

But she and I are learning to live together.
