Tired of listening to the same Christmas songs on the radio? Try to write a new one!
For any songwriters out there, or anyone that wants to be songwriters. Try to write a brand new Christmas song. If you want to, write a parody of a classic Christmas song.

what is love to you?

Love

There's naught but love in my heart to give

But I may ne'er find love as long as I live

I had no concern

In my bachelor's den

that the habit I did learn

was the bane of women!

My choice is either accept defeat...

or learn to put down the toilet seat!

Challenge
Things you can say about your Christmas present, but not your girlfriend/boyfriend.
Think of it as part of that game ‘Scenes from a Hat’ from the hit show Whose Line Is It Anyway. I much prefer if your entry consisted of at least 5-10 words, that way your entry is short and simple. Fill out the rest with extra letters or hashtags just to reach the word limit, or make a list of things. Follow this challenge for example (https://theprose.com/challenge/2967).

Charisma

Now she was trying to flirt with the bartender, who was definitely just a second ago staring at my lips. And that threw me off. I didn't know if I was more jealous or afraid.

Deep down I knew I was jealous of him for his charm. And also because I couldn't stare back without being afraid.

Challenge

That Was Awesome

I wasn't sure if you

wanted to, now I can't

believe we pulled that off!

Challenge
Hate
Write whatever comes to you when you think about this word. Please do not offend anyone, make it more about how it makes you feel and go with it. I'm sure this challenge has been done but I never saw it before so if it's a rerun sorry about that.

Hate

Two roads diverged in a dark wood

Beyond the green pastures and still waters I once laid by

A leaf falls where I once discovered loneliness.

Shadows became my company

And a voice played in my head,

It was yours;

Go and hunt you said,

And I took the road traveled by less

Into the valley of the shadow of death,

Hunting for vengeance.

I raised my sword and swung

If nothing else to see myself swing,

And I fought for fighting, I felled many foes

But all of them were naught but shadows.

Go and hunt you said!

So I holed the ground

And burned every bridge for when I found--

This promised treasure

It it would be mine

My own

My precious.

Divine.

The shadows spread and I couldn’t hide.

And then I finally cast aside

This futile quest for vengeance

And that alone has made all the difference.

The Conversion

Anna was born sweet as pie

Only to fall from grace.

What happened to Anna we knew from church?

Who would sing to strike chords that would ring in our souls

And leave us with a silence that only God could hear?

She plays the devil's noise now...

But every time she picks up that drumstick,

Twirling it around her fingers as the smile spreads across her face

It's gravy.

The crowds clap to the kick of the thump of a whole note--

Half note

Quater

The guitarists wouldn't dare to pluck a string.

And the singer smiles and turns to her.

She flicks her hair aside and grins.

Eigth

Sixteenth--

How does she do it?

The crowd can't keep up with her.

Or with their hearts.

Challenge

Five Minutes

Five minutes more

Is all I'll ever ask

Five minutes before

This moment comes to end

All over again

I haven't seen you since when

Five minutes before

I had asked then

Five minutes more

I'm aware

The things we could do

Again with just

Five minutes more

I just missed you

Five minutes before

This godforsaken alarm went off.

Kingdom Come. Democracy has not always existed. Before there was democracy, there were kings, queens, and monarchs. The setting is a land governed by a monarchy. Be the monarch tyrannical or benevolent, they rule absolutely and cast a long shadow. You can write from within the walls of the palace, or from without. Fiction or non-fiction, poetry or Prose.

Wait ’Em Out

Wait 'em out, king said.

Whatever the cost

They'll never outlast the snows.

But their tents went up

And their shields came down

And fires roasting rabbits rose.

Days went by

the king looked on

As frost dripped from his nose.

When the hour grew late

He ordered us to retaliate

But we'd spent the last of our arrows.

I said I'll sooner be a fool to fight

Than a coward to starve

But the king's fools heard my bellows

I meant not to question

But make a suggestion

What will we eat when we run out of rat?

And that

was when I was sent to the gallows.

Wait 'em out

Whatever the cost

So the king says, so it goes.

Life on the East Coast

Winter

I wear all these layers and freeze

My ass off.

Spring

I take all these pills and sneeze

My ass off.

Summer

I use all these fans and sweat

My ass off.

Autumn

I put on a jacket

and take a walk.
