Masculinity Week
If you're man enough. Define Manhood. If you're woman enough. Define Manhood. Do it with whatever form your hands can make words with. It's Masculinity Week on my calendar. So truthfully, I'm academically curious.
DougLevi in Stream of Consciousness

Manhood

Manhood is what happens when you leave boyhood. In boyhood you get to explore, learn play, and hopefully grow. Manhood is similar in that you can still explore, learn, play and hopefully grow, but in this hood, you have a condition of accountability. Your actions now have consequences, and you have responsibilities. Manhood is taking responsibility, it's the moment you realize you are in control of your own life.

Should writers be able to write characters of other races and nationalities?
This topic has been on my mind for a while and I'm curious about what people think. Please write freely, give your honest opinion, and explain your reasoning. I'm looking forward to reading all of your responses!
DougLevi

Yes

Writers should be able to write characters of other races and nationalities, if not we wouldn't have most of the works from Shakespeare, Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens), The Holy Bible, or The Holy Qur'an.

Humanities Worst Problems
Humanities Worst Problem. Can be any form. Limit of 50 words.
DougLevi

Humanity

Humanity's worst problem is humanity. Humanity separates humans from the rest of Earth. It is what separates us from the other animals, the spirtual and everything natural. We have become so disconnected from everything that was once natural to us, that the opposite of natural is now called man made.

Challenge

From a Mother to her Child

Fruit of my womb, formed from my flesh

I watch you destroy the very ground you came out of.

Scorched beyond recognition, previous beauty burnt away

Tormented by the hands of one of my youngest.

You know not what you do, but I still feel the malicious intent

Marred and disfigured I take in all the destruction.

I will use this as fuel, fuel to feed the fire of my rage

Which will one day be returned upon the one who stoked it.

Look at my pain, and see what true love is

I give you the fruits of my flesh without expectation of reciprocation.

Standing by, I take in all the pain you give

Hoping for the day that you will learn to love me right.

Challenge

Challenge of the Week CXVII
In Total Silence. Don't make a sound, write in whispers if you must. The theme is silence. Fiction or non-fiction, poetry or Prose.
DougLevi

Sound in the Silence

Its only in silence that we can here the real truth. The real truth that is inside of all of us. How long have you really remained in true silence? No music, no sound from the AC or heater, no outside noise whatsoever. When there is no noise coming from outside, all you here is the noise coming from within. Sometimes the sound from with in can be the sweetest whisper, or the loudest racket you will ever here.
