Painting themselves

Onto a darkening canvas

Long stretches of

Pinks, mixed with

Blues and purple

I was so sad to see

Them go

Then

Stars twinkling

Like white diamonds

I am glad

For the

Darkness

It let me

Love the light

We were different

People to each other

And the same

To ourselves

But the same

Felt different

And the people

Became others

You were a piece of my heart

With a jagged edge

Cutting me open

Your emotions like a wedge

My heart has healed

Each beat makes me stronger

Strangers we have become

Distance between us longer
