blooming pain

sadness blooms like a flower

budding from roots planted deep within

growing without warning

it unfurls its soft petals between your ribs

pushing up against your skin

overtime small thorns grow

to protect the flower

the thorns grow stronger

with each mountain overcome

but you get cut on your own thorns

creating one pain to protect another

…

and maybe briefly

the flower wilts

and the sadness dies down

but like all living things

it has planted its roots

waiting for its moment

to bloom again
